Job summary

Economy Wholesale Grocers in El Paso, TX is seeking a motivated meat cutter to join our team. You will cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind beef, pork, poultry, and fish to prep for cooking and display.

You will handle roasts and various cuts, wrap, weigh, label, and price merchandise, and ensure proper rotation and temperature controls. Safety and customer service are priorities; bilingual abilities are preferred.

Store location: 411 N. Zaragoza, El Paso, TX. Hours: Mon-Fri 7:00am-4:00pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5 years of related meat-market experience.
• Experience handling bandsaw, slicer, and table cutting.
• Food Handler’s Certification required.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cuts, trims, bones, ties, and grinds meats to prepare meat for cooking and display.
• Prepares special cuts ordered by customers.
• Wraps, weighs, labels, and prices cuts of meat.
• Maintains proper rotation of merchandise and ensures correct pricing.
• Keeps storage and display areas clean and properly stocked.
• Assists customers and provides excellent service.

Our market knowledge, cross-border partnerships, export services, and professional bilingual team have helped make Economy Wholesale Grocers the regional leader in wholesale commerce, serving the U.S. and Mexico.What we are looking forHighly motivated individual who provides outstanding customer service by ensuring meats are properly and safely sliced, cut, packaged, displayed, and stocked while maintaining proper rotation of merchandise.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCuts, trims, bones, ties, and grinds meats, such as beef, pork, poultry, and fish, to prepare meat in cooking form.Prepares special cuts of meat ordered by customers.Shapes, laces, and ties roasts, using boning knife, skewer, and twine. Uses cutting skills to get primal, sub-primal and retail cuts.Wraps, weighs, labels, and prices cuts of meat.Prepares and places meat cuts and products in display counter (or freezer and coolers) to attract shoppers. Ensures (display or freezer and coolers) are properly maintained and stocked.Has experience or is willing to learn how to use new electromechanical meat cutting equipment.Receives, inspects, and stores meat upon delivery, to ensure meat quality.Estimates requirements and orders or requisitions meat supplies to maintain inventory.Records quantity of meat received and keeps records of meat sales.Removes damaged merchandise and places it in its designated area.Ensures correct sign and price is displayed for merchandise.Maintains proper rotation of merchandise.Ensures that all perishable products are put into the proper temperature as quickly as possible.Regularly checks temperatures in freezers/coolers to ensure proper temperature is maintained.Must always keep safety a priority, ensuring all equipment is operated accurately, to include pedestrian traffic and forklift operation.Maintains a safe, clean working environment, with the necessary sanitation process, to include maintaining the inside of the meat cutting room and freezer/coolers clean.Maintain pricing in the scale used to weigh meats and cheese.Assists customers as needed.
