Job Summary

Our Meat Cutters ensure that our guests receive the best and most delicious products, presented according to their requirements. In addition to providing unparalleled guest service and supporting the Meat Lead, you'll make sure that our offerings and services promote guest loyalty, growth, and success for the store. As a member of our Meat Team, your primary responsibility will be to cut meat and other products for sale, ensuring our customers are provided with the freshest products possible. You will create and maintain an exemplary customer service atmosphere to build lifelong relationships by understanding and exceeding customer needs. To succeed in this position, you should be a team player who supports others, is eager to grow into leadership roles, and can inspire those around you.

Job Description

• Experience Required: Satisfactory completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months of experience or successful completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program.
• Experience Desired: Prior meat cutting experience.
• Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification or Licensing Required: Meat cutting certification.
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds.

Job Responsibilities

• Cut meat for sale by removing it from the cooler and dividing it into smaller packages.
• Service guests by answering questions and filling special orders.
• Rotate stock and check product code dates to ensure safety.
• Wrap meat and maintain the meat case.
• Provide products and services that meet internal and external customer requirements, adhering to the company's guiding principles and service credo.
• Prioritize safety in all work aspects for team members, guests, and products.
• Familiarize yourself with store products to answer questions and make recommendations.
• Utilize knowledge of code dating for product safety.
• Share enthusiasm and passion for food to cultivate a foodie culture among team members and guests.
• Greet customers warmly and professionally, whether in your department or elsewhere in the store.
• Prepare ground meat by grinding and packaging.
• Inspire team members and guests with your passion for food and commitment to excellence.
• Handle products and equipment properly, following food safety and safety guidelines.
• Offer active sampling opportunities when appropriate.
• Unload deliveries and check in trucks.
• Keep equipment, work surfaces, utensils, and floors clean to meet sanitation standards.
• Accurately record and prepare special orders to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist in maintaining the efficiency of meat coolers and freezers by unloading deliveries.
• Follow procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
