Job Title: Butcher (Grade 2)

Reports to: Assistant Plant Manager

Location: 605 Washington Ave, Carlstadt, NJ 07072

Shift Hours: 5AM - 2PM (times may shift due to overtime)

Position Summary

The Butcher position is classified as a Butcher Class level role. The employee is responsible for cutting pre-packaged and custom order meats. The role requires knowledge of various meat types and cuts. Additional duties within this class and lower may be assigned as needed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Cutting and preparing pre-packaged meats
2. Fulfilling custom orders for specific meat selections
3. Weighing and packaging products
4. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace
5. Conducting quality assurance checks on meats and other products
6. Caring for knives, tools, and equipment properly
7. Following all applicable food safety protocols

Skills and Abilities

1. Excellent communication skills
2. In-depth knowledge of meats, including types, grades, and cuts
3. Meat preparation techniques
4. Proficiency with hand tools and ability to stand for long periods
5. Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and attention to detail
6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a refrigerated environment at 40°F

Education and Experience
