Job summary

Cornbread Farm to Soul in Irvington, NJ is seeking a Line Cook to join our back-of-house team. You will be responsible for executing high-quality dishes for guests and adhering to Cornbread's SOPs and health standards.

As a line cook, you will work with management to prep, cook, and plate both hot and cold items, maintain clean stations, and assist with inventory and waste control. The role requires physical stamina and adherence to safety practices.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as a line cook or similar role
• Proficiency in technology, writing, reading
• People skills: dealing with a team proactively, professionally, and positively
• Ownership: takes initiative, personally drives & takes pride in business
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for long periods
• Able to work indoors and sometimes outdoors in kitchen environments

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present food for dining customers.
• Follow SOPs to prep/prepare hot and cold foods to DOH and Cornbread standards.
• Work with management to keep kitchen and front of house clean.
• Set up and break down kitchen stations per shift.
• Rotate, label, and date products to minimize waste and spoilage.
• Inform Chef on Duty of any sub-par products before service.
• Maintain kitchen equipment in clean working order and escalate issues.
• Assist with inventory counts
• Control and minimize waste
• Practice safe and clean work habits
• Update knowledge and skills through staff training opportunities
