BUS PERSON

OVERVIEW

It is the responsibility of a bus person to clear and set tables appropriately before and after guest service. They are also responsible for maintaining supplies for service and assisting other service staff to ensure guests are attended to in a clean, neat, and hospitable environment.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Adhere to personal cleanliness and proper uniform standards, displaying attentive posture and a confident, cordial demeanor.
2. Exemplify hospitality standards by answering guests' questions about the restaurant, handling requests and complaints professionally, prioritizing guest satisfaction.
3. Collaborate with management and colleagues, communicate suggestions positively, and demonstrate punctuality and dependability, including willingness to work non-scheduled shifts when needed.
4. Complete opening and closing duties efficiently, stock supplies and serviceware, keep stations clean and organized, and practice "clean as you go" habits.
5. Set tables carefully and quietly according to standards: proper place settings, center arrangements, napkin folding, and ensuring cleanliness of serviceware. Know table numbers and coordinate with host staff on seating.
6. Clear tables after guests leave: remove serviceware, wipe tables, brush crumbs, and check for cleanliness.
7. Follow proper dishroom procedures: handle soiled linen, stack trays, load bus tubs carefully, and assist dishroom staff as needed to control waste and breakage.
8. Maintain overall cleanliness of the restaurant to create a positive guest impression.
9. Assist waitstaff with table service as requested, including serving water, bread, beverages, clearing plates, changing ashtrays, and packing leftovers.
10. Work efficiently and as part of a team to maximize guest satisfaction.
11. Know emergency procedures for the restaurant.
12. Claim 100% of net tips, as required by law.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
