Job summary

Crown Beverage Packaging in La Crosse, WI is seeking a reliable Palletizer Operator to load finished cans onto pallets and run the palletizing line. You will operate automatic palletizing equipment, maintain quality, and communicate issues to supervision while adhering to GMP and safety policies.

This 12-hour shift role offers 4 days on/4 days off with opportunities for training and career growth in a dynamic manufacturing setting along the scenic Mississippi River region.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 1–2 years experience in inspecting/packaging and/or high-speed manufacturing is preferred
  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude
  • Must be available to work 12 hour shifts, rotating 4 days on/4 days off schedule which may fall on holidays, weekends, or nights as business needs

Responsibilities

  • Operates palletizer/de-palletizer equipment within the plant.
  • Ensures quality of finished package: cans placed correctly on pallets per customer order and layers completed.
  • Maintains log of production and downtime; reports jams or irregularities to Maintainer or Supervisor.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and housekeeping on palletizer and associated equipment.
  • Keeps area safe, clean and organized; follows all SOPs and GMP requirements.

Location

Crown Beverage Packaging located in La Crosse, WI has 111 employees. Surrounded by stunning bluffs and lying alongside the mighty Mississippi River, La Crosse is home to over 20 miles of beautiful scenic trails. The plant is also located just minutes from the historic downtown which hosts unique shops, lively entertainment, museums, art galleries and more. La Crosse is close to major highways such as I-94 and the approximate distance from the La Crosse Airport is about 7 minutes.


Position Overview

Under direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, BUSSE (Palletizer) Operator operates controls of the palletizing machine to ensure the loading of finished cans on pallets.


Duties And Responsibilities


  • Operates automatic Palletizer/De-palletizer equipment within the plant.

  • Ensures quality of finished package to include: cans placed correctly on pallets per customer order, manually insert cans to complete proper layer patterns, removes minor jams and reports major jams and/or irregularities to Maintainer or Supervisor

  • Ability to recognize can defects; follows procedure for defect recognition and communication, collects and documents information on cans (50 per hour)

  • Communicates timely and effectively; advises lift driver when supplies are needed and to remove defective supplies.

  • Maintains log of production and/or downtime, spoilage as required.

  • Using computerized system, makes label (tickets) for pallets

  • Performs preventative maintenance and Housekeeping to include cleaning the Palletizer, plungers and fingers.

  • Knowledge of measurements and specifications of cans.

  • Successfully follows all standard operating procedures; company policies and procedures; good attendance is required.

  • Ensures compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) at all times

  • Monitors equipment or processes and reports all problems to supervision.

  • Keeps area safe, clean and organized.

  • Performs other related duties as required.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

  • 1-2 year(s) experience in inspecting/packaging and/or high speed manufacturing is preferred

  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude

  • Must be available to work 12 hour shifts, rotating 4 days on/4 days off schedule which may fall on holidays, weekends, or nights as business needs

  • The team member is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic

  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures especially in the summer and winter months

  • The noise level is frequently loud
