Job summary

Crown Beverage Packaging in La Crosse, WI is seeking a dedicated Palletizer Operator to manage the palletizing line and ensure cans are loaded correctly on pallets. You will work under supervision in a 12-hour shift cycle, 4 days on/4 days off, supporting smooth production of finished cans.

  • Available to work 12-hour shifts, rotating 4 days on/4 days off, including holidays, weekends, or nights.

Responsibilities

  • Operate palletizer/de-palletizer equipment to load finished cans on pallets.
  • Ensure cans are placed correctly on pallets per order and proper layer patterns.
  • Report jams and irregularities to Maintainer or Supervisor.
  • Maintain production and downtime logs; monitor quality and defects.
  • Use computerized system to print pallet tickets.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and housekeeping on palletizer equipment.

Job Description

Location: Crown Beverage Packaging located in La Crosse, WI has 111 employees. Surrounded by stunning bluffs and lying alongside the mighty Mississippi River, La Crosse is home to over 20 miles of beautiful scenic trails. The plant is also located just minutes from the historic downtown which hosts unique shops, lively entertainment, museums, art galleries and more. La Crosse is close to major highways such as I-94 and the approximate distance from the La Crosse Airport is about 7 minutes

Position Overview

Under direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, BUSSE (Palletizer) Operator operates controls of the palletizing machine to ensure the loading of finished cans on pallets.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Operates automatic Palletizer/De-palletizer equipment within the plant.
  • Ensures quality of finished package to include: cans placed correctly on pallets per customer order, manually insert cans to complete proper layer patterns, removes minor jams and reports major jams and/or irregularities to Maintainer or Supervisor
  • Ability to recognize can defects; follows procedure for defect recognition and communication, collects and documents information on cans (50 per hour)
  • Communicates timely and effectively; advises lift driver when supplies are needed and to remove defective supplies.
  • Maintains log of production and/or downtime, spoilage as required.
  • Using computerized system, makes label (tickets) for pallets
  • Performs preventative maintenance and Housekeeping to include cleaning the Palletizer, plungers and fingers.
  • Knowledge of measurements and specifications of cans.
  • Successfully follows all standard operating procedures; company policies and procedures; good attendance is required.
  • Ensures compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) at all times
  • Monitors equipment or processes and reports all problems to supervision.
  • Keeps area safe, clean and organized.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 1-2 year(s) experience in inspecting/packaging and/or high speed manufacturing is preferred
  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude
  • Must be available to work 12 hour shifts, rotating 4 days on/4 days off schedule which may fall on holidays, weekends, or nights as business needs

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member frequently is required to climb or balance The team member is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Generally works in a manufacturing environment While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures especially in the summer and winter months The noise level is frequently loud
