Job summary

Crown Beverage Packaging in La Crosse, WI is hiring a BUSSE (Palletizer) Operator to load finished cans onto pallets and operate the palletizing line. You will work under the Manufacturing Supervisor and ensure quality per customer orders while adhering to GMP and safety standards.

The role requires a mechanical aptitude, basic English, and ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (4-on/4-off), with potential overtime based on business needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• 1–2 years experience in inspecting/packaging and/or high-speed manufacturing preferred.
• Must possess a mechanical aptitude.
• Must be available to work 12-hour shifts, rotating 4 days on/4 days off, may include holidays, weekends, or nights.

Responsibilities

• Operates palletizer/depalletizer equipment in the plant.
• Ensures packaging quality: cans correctly placed on pallets per order; completes proper layer patterns.
• Reports jams/irregularities and assists maintenance.
• Documents can info and maintains production/downtime logs.
• Follows SOPs, GMP compliance, and housekeeping requirements.
• Performs basic label creation for pallets and related duties.

Job Description

Location: Crown Beverage Packaging located in La Crosse, WI has 111 employees. Surrounded by stunning bluffs and lying alongside the mighty Mississippi River, La Crosse is home to over 20 miles of beautiful scenic trails. The plant is also located just minutes from the historic downtown which hosts unique shops, lively entertainment, museums, art galleries and more. La Crosse is close to major highways such as I-94 and the approximate distance from the La Crosse Airport is about 7 minutes

Position Overview

Under direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, BUSSE (Palletizer) Operator operates controls of the palletizing machine to ensure the loading of finished cans on pallets.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Operates automatic Palletizer/De-palletizer equipment within the plant.
• Ensures quality of finished package to include: cans placed correctly on pallets per customer order, manually insert cans to complete proper layer patterns, removes minor jams and reports major jams and/or irregularities to Maintainer or Supervisor
• Ability to recognize can defects; follows procedure for defect recognition and communication, collects and documents information on cans (50 per hour)
• Communicates timely and effectively; advises lift driver when supplies are needed and to remove defective supplies.
• Maintains log of production and/or downtime, spoilage as required.
• Using computerized system, makes label (tickets) for pallets
• Performs preventative maintenance and Housekeeping to include cleaning the Palletizer, plungers and fingers.
• Knowledge of measurements and specifications of cans.
• Successfully follows all standard operating procedures; company policies and procedures; good attendance is required.
• Ensures compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) at all times
• Monitors equipment or processes and reports all problems to supervision.
• Keeps area safe, clean and organized.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• 1-2 year(s) experience in inspecting/packaging and/or high speed manufacturing is preferred
• Must possess a mechanical aptitude
• Must be available to work 12 hour shifts, rotating 4 days on/4 days off schedule which may fall on holidays, weekends, or nights as business needs

May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
