Job summary

Career Legal is seeking a Business Valuation Manager to join its Business Valuation Services in Providence, RI. You will deliver high-quality valuation analyses and advise clients on major financial decisions for privately held and public companies across industries.

You will lead valuations, collaborate with tax and advisory teams, and drive 409A analyses, PPAs, and financial reporting valuations. Strong Excel, modeling, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in accounting, finance, economics, or related field.
• 5+ years of business valuation experience, preferably in public accounting or valuation/advisory firm.
• CPA required.
• ABV, ASA, CVA, or CFA certification preferred.
• 3–5 years of public accounting tax experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of valuation methodologies (income, market, asset approaches).
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience preparing professional valuation reports.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-functional teamwork skills.
• Experience with tax and accounting technology (CCH Axcess, SurePrep, XCM) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare valuations of closely held businesses and interests, including common stock, gifts, estate valuations, and purchases/sales.
• Perform valuations in support of tax compliance, planning, and structuring.
• Collaborate with tax professionals on complex client situations.
• Perform 409A valuations and purchase price allocations (PPAs).
• Support financial reporting valuations including business combinations, intangibles, goodwill, impairments, inventory, and deferred revenue.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis, modeling, industry research, and comps analysis.
• Apply income, market, and asset-based valuation approaches.
• Prepare detailed valuation reports and client deliverables.
• Advise clients on business planning, investments, and tax perspectives.
• Work with tax, accounting, and advisory teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Maintain strong client relationships and clearly communicate conclusions.
• Assist with additional valuation and financial analysis projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced valuation professional to take on a broad range of complex engagements while working closely with tax, accounting, and advisory professionals. The firm provides assurance, tax, business advisory, and valuation services to privately held and publicly traded companies across a variety of industries.

About the Role

The Business Valuation Manager will play a key role in delivering high-quality valuation analyses and advising clients on significant financial and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare valuations of closely held businesses and business interests, including common stock, gift and estate valuations, shareholder buyouts, and purchase and sale transactions.
• Perform valuations in support of tax compliance, tax planning, estate and gift tax matters, and transaction structuring.
• Collaborate with tax professionals on complex client situations involving valuation and tax considerations.
• Perform 409A valuations and purchase price allocations (PPAs).
• Support financial reporting valuations, including:
• Business combinations and enterprise valuations
• Valuation of intangible assets
• Goodwill and long-lived asset impairment analyses
• Inventory and deferred revenue
• Debt and equity component analyses
• Conduct detailed financial analysis, financial modeling, industry research, and comparable company/transaction analysis.
• Apply appropriate valuation methodologies, including income, market, and asset-based approaches.
• Prepare detailed valuation reports, analyses, and other client deliverables.
• Advise clients on business planning, strategic investments, transactions, and other financial objectives from both valuation and tax perspectives.
• Work collaboratively with tax, accounting, and advisory teams to provide integrated client solutions.
• Maintain strong client relationships and communicate valuation conclusions effectively to both clients and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with additional valuation, advisory, and financial analysis projects as needed.

Pay range and compensation package

• Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000
• Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, education, technical skills, professional credentials, responsibilities, and geographic location.
• The position may also be eligible for additional benefits and bonus opportunities.
