Job summary

Ohio Valley Electrical Services is seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to work cross-divisionally, observing actual workflows and implementing practical tools and automations. This role emphasizes direct engagement with field and office teams to understand real processes and deliver efficient solutions.

You will prototype lightweight tools, prioritize improvements, and partner with leaders to scope and deliver software initiatives, ensuring adoption and measurable impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, information systems, or related field preferred; equivalent hands‑on experience will be considered.
• 5 to 8 years of experience combining business process analysis with hands‑on technical or software development work.
• Demonstrated ability to build functional tools, scripts, or applications, or to closely partner with and vet the work of developers who do.
• Track record of mapping business processes, identifying inefficiencies, and delivering solutions that were actually adopted.
• Comfortable working directly with tradespeople, field staff, and office staff of varying technical backgrounds to understand real workflows firsthand.
• Proven self‑starter, able to independently identify opportunities and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
• Experience with software vendor evaluation or consolidation is a plus.
• Familiarity with construction or contracting industry software (e.g., project management, HRIS, document management, or field service platforms) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Spend time directly embedded with teams across divisions to observe and document how work is performed.
• Build and maintain a prioritized backlog of process-improvement opportunities based on time saved and impact.
• Design, prototype, and build lightweight internal tools, dashboards, and automations using modern development practices and AI-assisted tools.
• Develop or improve tools that support proposal writing, project take-offs, and estimating workflows for contracting division.
• Develop tools and processes that improve communication and information flow between field staff and the office.
• Lead the development of larger software needs by building or scoping work for outside developers or contractors.
• Evaluate current software footprint (SharePoint, BambooHR, Ving, Field) for consolidation.
• Lead rollout, training, and adoption of new tools and process changes; gather real-world feedback.
• Partner with leaders across contracting, power services, panel shop, civil, and engineering to scope projects.
• Track and report impact of implemented solutions, including time saved and adoption.
• Stay current on emerging tools including AI-assisted development and evaluate their applicability.
