AbbVie Inc. is seeking a Business Systems Consultant-Business Relationship Management to partner with R&D IT and the global Discovery R&D organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, CS, IS, chemistry or related; 7+ years experience; or MS with 6 years; or PhD with 2 years.
• Experience in business relationship management, systems analysis, PM, technology solution delivery, or software implementation.
• Proven ability to lead projects and manage competing priorities in complex environments.
• Experience leading and developing teams, including direct reports, contractors, or cross-functional resources.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across business and tech.
• Ability to translate business strategies and scientific objectives into technology roadmaps and actionable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain productive partnerships across global leadership, scientists, external collaborators, and stakeholders to develop integrated technology strategies within R&D.
• Collaborate with R&D scientists/executives and IT executives to initiate and set strategic direction for R&D IT projects.
• Partner with R&D and IT leaders to identify opportunities for AI/ML to enhance workflows.
• Oversee deployment and integration of scientific technology tools, including AI solutions and HPC resources.
• Champion continuous improvement through education, evaluation of best practices, and implementation of innovative solutions.
• Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies to inform and involve stakeholders in key initiatives.

Job Description

The Business Systems Consultant-Business Relationship Management, serves as a strategic partner between R&D IT and the global Discovery R&D organization, with primary responsibility for supporting Small Molecule Therapeutics & Platform Technologies(SMTPT). This leader manages and develops a team of business systems analysts while collaborating with R&D leadership to deliver technology solutions that advance AbbVie’s Drug Discoveryobjectives. Through strong relationship management, people leadership, and strategic alignment, the role enables scientific innovation and operational excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Demonstratedexperience in business relationship management, business systems analysis, project management, technology solution delivery, or software implementation.

• Strongunderstanding of drug discovery, research informatics, scientific platforms, and data management practices.
• Demonstrated AI fluency, with the ability to engage business and technical stakeholders on AI/ML opportunities, translate business needs into use cases, and help drive the adoption of AI-enabled solutions.
• Experienceleading cross-functional teams and driving collaboration across business, scientific, and technology functions.
• Demonstratedsuccess aligning technology strategy, digital innovation, and businessobjectives.
• Knowledgeof emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and high-performance computing in research environments.
• Familiaritywith regulatory requirements, data privacy standards, compliance frameworks, and quality management practices relevant to scientific research.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
