Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) plays a role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, educators, researchers, students, and staff with technology-related information, products, and support. HITS also provides institutional expertise related to IT strategy, security, infrastructure, and resource management.

Division Overview

The HITS Radiology IT and Clinical Enterprise Imaging Team at Michigan Medicine is seeking a candidate to fulfill the role of Imaging Applications Analyst. This team supports the clinical, operational, research, and academic needs of enterprise imaging across Michigan Medicine, ensuring reliable access to diagnostic images and related systems for radiologists, clinicians, technologists, researchers, educators, and patient care teams. The team is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and supporting radiology and imaging applications that are critical to high-quality, timely, and safe patient care.

As an Imaging Applications Analyst, this role will provide day-to-day administration, support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for PACS and other radiology and enterprise imaging systems. The position will collaborate with clinical, technical, research, and vendor teams to resolve system issues, support workflow improvements, assist with system upgrades and integrations, and ensure imaging applications meet the needs of Michigan Medicine users.

Responsibilities*

Under the general direction of the Radiology IT/CEI Director, performs duties designed to maximize the utilization of Clinical Enterprise Imaging applications.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day applications support of Clinical Enterprise Imaging applications, which include PACS and Radiology dictation applications, the Clinical Enterprise Imaging VNA, and Enterprise Viewer. Support related tasks may include modality workflow, archiving, quality assurance of data, viewing of diagnostic images through the EMR, and other related activities. Works closely with other IT personnel and Clinical Department Managers and Supervisors to ensure proper operation of diagnostic image data transfer into the Clinical Enterprise Imaging VNA as well as viewing of diagnostic images using the Enterprise Viewer throughout the health system.
  • Support of the Radiology and Clinical Enterprise Imaging applications. Tasks include training, workflow assessment, application trouble shooting, and performance monitoring.
  • Under limited supervision gathers and analyzes user needs for developing and modifying clinical workflows for the storing and viewing of clinical diagnostic images and reports.
  • Works closely with HITS and clinical departments in the development of operating standards, policies and procedures, and training programs. Reviews feedback from system users, compiles and analyzes support data, and recommends procedural and educational changes as appropriate.
  • Works closely with clinical managers? personnel to identify and design future needs and efficient workflow processes that include further integration into operations.
  • Assists in ensuring all department, hospital, Compliance, HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines are met.
  • On-call support required.
Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-3 Years of IT related experience
Desired Qualifications*
  • Knowledge of the physics of medical imaging and image processing
  • Familiarity with image visualization software
  • Understanding of the principles of digital image acquisition
  • Basic knowledge of the various imaging modalities
  • Understanding of DICOM communications and HL7 interfaces.
  • Radiological technology or computer science background is desirable.
Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .

Work Locations

This position is being offered as a Hybrid position. There will be times when it will be appropriate for you to work from home. There will be other times when you will be required to work onsite for meetings, training, and other end user support needs. This position will be 90% remote work.

On-Call rotation participation and after-hours support are required for this position.
