Job Title: Business Systems Analyst
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Role Overview
This role is for a Business Systems Analyst responsible for eliciting, defining, and managing system and user requirements, and providing technical guidance to end-users on various projects within a large-scale environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit and define system and user requirements through observation, interviews, and analysis.
- Collaborate directly with end-users to define requirements and provide technical advice and assistance.
- Translate customer needs into formal business requirements.
- Analyze end-user needs and conduct fit-gap analysis.
- Utilize business requirements tracking tools for recording and prioritization.
- Interview non-technical end-users to determine and document current business process flows.
- Create business process flows, including standard flowcharts and swim lane diagrams, using Visio.
- Develop test conditions, test cases, and test scenarios.
- Participate in Business Process Re-engineering initiatives.
- Apply AGILE methodology principles, including Agile Alignment within BABOK.
- Support software development or implementation projects from initiation through completion, serving as a technical Business Analyst.
- Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) using project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Clarity).
- Perform systems process and data mapping, requirements gathering, and analysis, creating detailed documentation.
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with non-technical stakeholders, even without a project manager or technical expert.
- Collaborate with supporting resources across business and functional lines, managing time and resources effectively to meet deadlines.
Required Skills
- Business Systems Analyst experience (4 years within the past 8 years)
- Eliciting and defining system and user requirements through observation, interviews, and analysis (4 years)
- Working directly with end-users to define requirements and provide technical advice and assistance in a large-scale environment (4 years)
- Translating customer needs into formal business requirements (4 years)
- Analyzing end-user needs and conducting fit-gap analysis (4 years)
- Using a business requirements tracking tool for recording and prioritization of business requirements (4 years)
- Interviewing non-technical end-users to determine and document current business process flows (3 years)
- Using Visio to create business process flows, including standard flowcharts and swim lane diagrams (3 years)
- Creating test conditions, test cases, and test scenarios (3 years)

- Documented experience as a technical Business Analyst from project initiation through completion on a minimum of two (2) software development or implementation projects

- Documented experience in systems process and data mapping, requirements gathering, and analysis, as well as proficiency in the creation of detailed documentation
