Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field is required.
• 2+ years of project implementation or project management experience.
• 3+ years in banking or financial services, preferably Private Banking.
• 3+ years evaluating, implementing, supporting, debugging, and troubleshooting third‑party software.
• Experience with core banking systems interfacing with satellite systems (BI, AML, reporting, data warehouse).
• Strong knowledge of SDLC practices and application software support processes.
• Hands-on development, testing, and troubleshooting skills across databases and web tech.
• English fluency; Portuguese desirable.

Job description

The Business Systems Analyst serves as a strategic liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams, translating business needs into clear technical solution concepts, specifications, and implementation plans. This role is responsible for gathering, evaluating, documenting, and communicating business requirements for new enterprise business applications, enhancements to existing systems, and ongoing production operations support.

The individual will provide functional expertise in core banking systems and demonstrate strong knowledge of all phases of the application lifecycle. The role requires hands‑on experience analyzing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting business applications, including engagement in production environments to identify root causes and resolve issues in a timely manner while coordinating with vendors, partners, and internal teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete project assignments involving research, analysis, design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of systems.
• Deliver assignments on schedule while meeting operational, functional, and performance requirements.
• Engage with business users to gather, validate, and document business requirements through formal and informal sessions.
• Translate business requirements into functional requirements, technical specifications, test plans, and training materials.
• Formulate and define system scope and objectives, including procedures to solve complex business and technical problems while considering capacity and system limitations.
• Ask probing questions to fully understand business needs, scope, complexity, and effort sizing.
• Organize and facilitate review sessions with business sponsors, stakeholders, IT development teams, vendors, and partners.
• Participate in project estimates, cost‑benefit analyses, work planning, progress tracking, and adjustment of delivery approaches to maintain commitments.
• Produce thorough design, development, and technical documentation in alignment with SDLC methodology.
• Develop detailed specifications to support application development and system enhancements.
• Build and support data‑driven business applications in a hands‑on capacity.
• Execute test cases and document defects, bugs, and system issues in the appropriate defect tracking tools.
• Participate in system integration testing and support business users during UAT by documenting issues, resolutions, and follow‑up actions.
• Gather production defects from business users, analyze root causes, and collaborate with product vendors on production support and development activities.
• Maintain banking applications in production and support all tasks required to resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Support the change management process by documenting change requests, evaluating business criticality, and assessing impact to project commitments.
• Ensure product performance and quality conform to company standards, policies, specifications, and customer requirements through structured testing programs, procedures, controls, and quality practices.
• Provide best‑practice consulting and subject matter expertise to internal stakeholders and technology teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field required.
• Minimum of 2 years of project implementation or project management experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the banking or financial services industry, preferably within Private Banking.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience evaluating, implementing, supporting, debugging, and troubleshooting third‑party software packages.
• Experience with implementation, support, outsourcing, or integration of core banking systems that interface with satellite systems such as portfolio management, AML, document imaging, client reporting, business intelligence, and data warehouse platforms.
• Strong understanding of SDLC practices and application software support processes.
• Demonstrated application development and support skills, including database modeling and administration, web development, systems testing, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of complex object serialization and deserialization.
• Experience writing unit and system tests.
• Demonstrated success delivering multiple critical projects within an investment banking or securities industry environment.
• Fluency in English required, fluency in Portuguese is desirable.

Technical Skills and Experience

• Experience with SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Application troubleshooting and production support experience across Windows Server, WebSphere Application Server, and WebSphere MQ.
• Production support experience with batch scheduling tools, services, and application monitoring solutions.
• Knowledge of web application architecture, including HTTP servers, WebSphere Application Server, SQL database servers, ODBC, and TCP/IP.
• Proficiency with modeling and process mapping tools such as Microsoft Visio, Enterprise Architect, or similar tools.
• Experience maintaining data warehouse environments.
