Job summary

Regions Financial Corporation seeks a seasoned Business Systems Analyst to bridge business needs with IT solutions in Hoover, AL. You will analyze processes, develop SQL-based data solutions, and create dashboards to inform strategic decisions.

Collaboration with stakeholders across teams is essential. You will work with BI tools like Power BI/Tableau to deliver insights, while applying agile or waterfall methodologies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with seven (7) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience.
• Banking or financial services industry experience preferred.
• Experience with business intelligence tools.

Responsibilities

• Formulates/defines specifications for operating software applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications.
• Analyzes and evaluates existing or proposed systems and devises programs and procedures to process data.
• Prepares charts, diagrams, and flowcharts to assist in problem analysis and document recommendations.
• Develops coding logic flows and program specifications.
• Encodes, tests, debugs, and installs programs in coordination with IT operations and user departments.
• Reports inconsistencies and suggests resolutions and process improvements.
• Some business groups may require on-call rotation after hours or weekends.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries and data extraction processes.
• Create reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses to support decisions.

Job Description:

• At Regions, the Business Systems Analyst conducts business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analysis in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives. This position may function as liaison between the line of business and the Information Technology (IT) department.

Primary Responsibilities

• Formulates/defines specifications foroperating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from programs
• Analyzes and evaluates existing or proposed systems and devises computer programs, systems, and related procedures to process data
• Prepares charts and diagrams to assist in problem analysis and submits recommendations for solution
• Prepares program specifications and diagrams and develops coding logic flowcharts
• Encodes, tests, debugs, and installs the operating programs and procedures in coordination with computer operations and user departments
• Reviews progress and evaluates results
• Reports inconsistencies to the attention of management and suggest problem resolutions and business process improvements
• Certain business groups may require on call support rotation after hours and/or weekends

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Highly analytical SQL Data Analyst with expertise in querying, analyzing, and comparing large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and business insights.

Possess advanced SQL skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and experience working with high-volume data from multiple sources to support data-driven decision-making.

Additional Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data extraction processes.
• Analyze and compare large datasets across multiple systems to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and root cause analysis to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Create reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses to support business and operational decisions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
• Identify data quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Utilize data profiling techniques to discover patterns, outliers, and process improvements.
• Support data migration, integration, and transformation projects.
• Document analytical methodologies, business rules, and data definitions.

Additional Preferred Preferences:

• Experience analyzing datasets containing millions of records.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Snowflake.
• Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.

This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future in Hoover, AL, Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC. Must be in a reasonable driving distance.

Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense.

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.
