Position Description

The Business Systems Analyst works closely with our business Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to understand their operational needs and document their business requirements for enhancements to existing business applications, reports, and the implementation of new functionality. This person is responsible for managing projects throughout their lifecycle. This position reports to the Business Systems Manager and is remote with the option to work in The Community Builders’ Boston corporate office.

Essential Functions:

• Project Management for Business Information Systems’ projects throughout the initiatives’ lifecycle (Discovery through Closure)

• Provide technical and functional support for business and reporting applications; research and resolve problems; and recommend solutions or alternative methods to meet end user needs

• Document business requirements for enhancements and new functionality

• Work with third party vendors and internal development staff to test and implement these changes

• Develop technical specifications to assist development, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries

• Create Ad Hoc Reporting as needed per requester specifications to deliver value-add analysis

• Understand how data flows within various systems to provide input on requirements for databases to ensure data is organized properly for reporting/analytics

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, interpersonal and project related skills

• Highly responsive and adaptable to efficiently manage quick-turn, tactical projects

• Experience working in a multifaceted environment with complex undocumented business logic and data flows

• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including Integration Services and Reporting Services

• Excellent understanding of relational databases

• Excellent working knowledge of SQL and data manipulation, performing writing queries, stored procedures, packages, triggers, etc.

• Working knowledge of Real Estate Industry, Affordable Housing in particular

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, Sharepoint, Power BI, and Yardi is helpful

• Experience working in an Agile environment is helpful

• Experience working with Azure DevOps or Team Foundation Server is helpful

• Strong sense of customer service, positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a dedicated team player

Education & Experience:

• 3+ years managing business information systems projects

• 2-3 years reporting experience involving both ad hoc, fast turnaround requests, along with standardized scheduled reporting based upon large data sets and complex queries

• BA/BS degree in business, computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience
