Dean of Journalism


Job Description


The Missouri School of Journalism is seeking a Business Support Specialist II to provide comprehensive administrative and operational support across the Dean's Office, Journalism Studies, and School. This role is ideal for a detailed-oriented, service-driven, and reliable professional who thrives in a fast-paced academic work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Dean's Office and Journalism Studies
* Serve as the first point of contact: answer phones, greet visitors and provide front desk coverage (when needed).
* Assist with faculty/staff searches and onboarding new hires.
* Provide clerical, project and task support to the Dean's Office, faculty group chair and faculty of Journalism Studies.
* Coordinate meetings and appointments: schedule, prepare materials, take minutes, and track attendance.
* Assist with course scheduling, classroom bookings and enrollment documentation.
* Handle fiscal tasks: coordinating travel, purchasing supplies, processing bills, contracts and reimbursements, and preparing and reconciling monthly financial reports.
* Maintain School directories and electronic files.
* Provide backup support to team members.

School-wide:
* KTA assistance: handle fiscal and logistics of the society, assist the KTA advisor with mailings and correspondence as well as planning and execution of induction ceremonies.
* Assist with ordering textbooks and faculty regalia, writing-intensive course applications, mailroom operations, and shipping and receiving.
* Assist with space planning inventory surveys.
* Support events and provide onsite facilitation (when needed).
* Provide backup support to the Strategic Communication Faculty Group.

Other duties as assigned.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities with discretion and professionalism.
* Proficient in administrative, financial and office systems.
* Team-oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Shift


Full-time, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
This position requires reliable, onsite attendance.


Minimum Qualifications


An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Anticipated Hiring Range


Salary Range: $17.05 - $23.00 per hour

Grade: GGS-007
