Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Business Risk Specialist to support identification, assessment, and resolution of high-risk loss mitigation matters with emphasis on compliance, regulatory and operational concerns.

The role partners with lines of business and customer remediation teams to uncover root causes, coordinate corrective actions, and track commitments through completion. A bachelor’s degree and 2–3 years of relevant experience are required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with business partners, clarify responsibilities, and proactively escalating issues.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor systems, databases, processes, procedures, and business information to identify matters requiring review or escalation.
  • Research and analyze higher-risk loss mitigation issues to determine root causes and identify potential process or system gaps.
  • Coordinate corrective actions with business partners, clarify required deliverables, track progress, and identify obstacles that could affect completion.
  • Provide guidance, support, and recommendations to lines of business regarding risk-related activities and commitments.
  • Review testing results, reports, and supporting documentation to validate that corrective actions have been completed and are sustainable.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive written documentation summarizing commitments, completed actions, supporting evidence, and any justified deviations from the original plan.
  • Support customer remediation efforts involving matters such as fees, credit reporting, foreclosure-related impacts, or other adverse customer outcomes.
  • Review impacted customer or loan populations to determine whether records were appropriately included or excluded.
  • Examine loan-level information, sample records, and work with business partners to confirm that affected populations are complete and accurate.
  • Track customer remediation activities through completion, including corrective actions intended to make impacted customers whole.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data and assist with the development of reports.
  • Manage multiple assignments with different deadlines and levels of complexity while proactively escalating concerns that could affect established target dates.
  • Contribute to business risk projects, initiatives, and process improvement.

Job Description

The Business Risk Specialist supports the identification, assessment, management, and resolution of business risks, with an emphasis on higher-risk loss mitigation matters. These issues may involve compliance, regulatory, fair-lending, operational, or customer-impact concerns requiring specialized oversight. This role partners with business lines and customer remediation teams to understand how an issue occurred, identify process or system gaps, coordinate corrective actions, and track commitments through completion. The specialist will also review supporting evidence and document completed work to help confirm that risks have been appropriately and sustainably addressed.

Key Responsibilities

The role has an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week at one of the posted hub locations.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. Pay Range: $24.18 - $32.21 U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
