Job summary

Reliant Credit Union in Macedon, NY is seeking a Business Relationship Manager to grow commercial lending by developing new loan and deposit relationships and meeting production goals.

This exempt, full-time role requires 5+ years in commercial lending, SBA program knowledge, and strong communication to serve members and cross-sell products.

Flexible to accommodate some remote work, but in-person presence is expected with a Monday–Friday schedule.

General Summary

Reliant Credit union, ranked one of Rochester's top mid‑sized workplaces nine years in a row, seeks a Business Relationship Manager to join our team.

The Business Relationship Manager is responsible for developing and originating business lending at the credit union and achieving defined production goals. This includes working one on one with members and potential members to meet their business lending needs.

As a Business Relationship Manager At Reliant, You Will

• Develops new business leads obtained from referrals and a sales calling plan to generate qualified loan and deposit relationships. Interviews loan applicants to gather information necessary to analyze the loan request and business needs.


• Serves as the contact point for business clients on all member service issues. Cross‑sells products and services that meet their needs. Maintains level of service that promotes referrals from satisfied members. Coordinates marketing efforts with branch staff and Marketing Department, including joint calling activity for referrals with staff who made the referral.


• Reviews business credit applications and financial statements to determine the borrowing capacity, cash flow, capitalization, and collateral value for the business/borrower. Assists in analysis of financial statements to determine cash flow, liquidity, and trends of the business in order for the credit union to make a sound underwriting decision.


• Investigates the credit history of the applicant/business which includes but is not limited to credit bureau reports, rating from business creditors and suppliers, and income/employment verification.

Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience in commercial lending in a financial institution preferred.


• Knowledge and experience in SBA lending programs desired.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of commercial/business lending and business relationship development activities by possessing experience in commercial credit processing, underwriting, and sales calling activities.


• Thorough knowledge of all credit union, state and federal policies, procedures and laws regarding lending.


• Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work in a volume‑oriented environment. Work schedule may require evening/weekend hours, business visits, and availability to meet with members at locations convenient to them.


• Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to resolve complex situations regarding commercial credit situations and needs.


• Demonstrates effective verbal communication skills to explain commercial/business situations to prospects, members and staff. Demonstrates active listening skills to assimilate information and then translate it into actions that will help provide solutions to a member’s financial needs.


• Possesses familiarity with the community and small business climate in the markets served by the credit union.


• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and utilization of financial statement/tax return analytical software programs to determine cash flow, financial trends and evaluate performance in relation to an appropriate peer group. (Sageworks)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use keyboard, monitor, and other standard office equipment.


• Ability to decipher data contained in documents, reports, spreadsheets, etc., presented both on paper and electronically.


• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
