  • Assist the CPE in the development and execution of short‑ and long‑term tactics that advance clinical quality, safety, operational performance, and workforce priorities, especially as they relate to our academic faculty, clinical departments, and medical school.
  • Standardize tools, templates, and methodologies that enhance effectiveness, promote consistency, and reduce unnecessary variation or cost.
  • Monitor progress and performance against project and program plans, identify clinical or operational barriers, mitigate risks, and ensure timely execution.
  • Participate in the development of innovative funds flows and finances, in conjunction with Finance, within the University of Michigan Medical Group (UMMG) and our clinical Departments.
  • Provide high‑level administrative coordination, facilitation, and oversight of strategic initiatives sponsored by the Chief Physician Executive and supported by the Enterprise Triad.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with leaders across hospitals and health centers, the Medical School, nursing, faculty group practice, shared services, and physician leadership groups to advance CPE‑ and Triad‑led initiatives.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Chief Physician Executive regarding organizational alignment, communication strategies, clinical integration, and enterprise‑wide change management.
  • Prepare, analyze, and synthesize proposals and recommendations on complex clinical and operational initiatives; develop associated action plans and coordinate implementation.
  • Support the CPE in planning and implementing short‑ and long‑term strategies, policies, procedures, programs, and enterprise priorities that strengthen clinical performance and integration.
  • Manage clinical, operational, or strategic programs and projects that enhance enterprise performance; participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives supporting systemwide goals.
  • Synthesize large amounts of clinical, operational, and strategic data into succinct communications that support executive decision‑making and inform diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with partners to assess and recommend fiscal, human, and material resources required for programs and projects.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of enterprise clinical and operational priorities to anticipate needs, manage emerging issues, and identify opportunities for alignment or improvement.
  • Coordinate, review, and summarize literature, reports, benchmarking analyses, environmental scans, and briefing materials as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Chief Physician Executive and Enterprise Triad leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in health services administration, healthcare, business administration, public health, nursing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, with demonstrated knowledge of clinical work, clinical operations, and clinical workflows.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with administrative leaders, clinicians, faculty, staff, interprofessional teams, and system partners.
  • Demonstrated leadership in project management, continuous improvement, and implementation of organizational change.
  • Proven ability to work successfully with interdisciplinary teams and represent the mission, values, and priorities of Michigan Medicine.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strategic and systems‑based thinking, with the ability to apply these competencies across a complex health system.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, including the ability to develop solutions, prioritize work, manage deadlines, and navigate ambiguity in a layered matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • High degree of creativity, initiative, resourcefulness, and adaptability.
