Position Overview

The Business Operations Manager is the business partner to the office leader in all matters affecting leadership, team management, staffing, project delivery, growth, and other decisions impacting current and future business practices of the office or studio. This role also includes supplemental duties such as Project Management.

Your Role
  1. Partner with the office and studio leader(s) to assess business operations based on financials, project portfolio, and practice fundamentals.
  2. Develop an organizational chart and discuss future staffing needs, including hiring and staffing loans, based on financials, skill sets, and project types.
  3. Participate in vetting candidates, interviewing, and hiring processes.
  4. Collaborate with regional leaders to create weekly forecasts and action plans for business management.
  5. Review proposals and pursuits, maintaining an opportunity forecast, ensuring project fees are competitive and scope is achievable.
  6. Assist in staff reassignments across offices to balance workload and forecast.
  7. Review and sign construction documents and billing drafts to ensure accuracy and adherence to forecasts.
  8. Ensure work plans are developed and monitored to maintain a minimum profit margin of 15%.
  9. Conduct weekly project management meetings to review project status, forecasts, QA/QC, and financials.
  10. Develop and monitor strategic business plans.
  11. Build strong relationships with corporate team leaders to discuss project performance and service delivery.
  12. Implement quality assurance and client service strategies to foster repeat business.
  13. Serve as a technical resource and address HR issues proactively.
  14. Foster a positive team environment and oversee all training initiatives.
  15. Participate in the annual Business Management Summit and communicate key information to staff.
  16. Discuss any project liability concerns with leadership.
Qualifications
  1. Preferred bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or civil engineering.
  2. At least 8 years of relevant practice experience and 2 years in project management or equivalent business operations experience.
  3. Excellent communication skills.
Compensation
$95,000 - $110,000 per year, plus benefits. The final salary is based on individual qualifications and experience. Certain roles are bonus eligible.
