Bellevue University is seeking a Business Office Intern to support operational, financial, analytical, and administrative activities within the Business Office.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling) are required or expected.
  • Experience with Power BI or data visualization tools is preferred.
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, financial statement analysis, or accounting principles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, Fusion, or Axiom EPM is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team center environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with financial, operational, and administrative projects within the Business Office.
  • Support data collection, validation, reconciliation, and reporting activities.
  • Prepare reports, analyses, dashboards, and presentations for leadership and department managers.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, accounting, procurement, and business operations activities.
  • Participate in process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Document business processes, procedures, and workflows.
  • Conduct research and special projects related to Business Office functions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of University information.
  • Collaborate with Business Office staff and other departments to support objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in operating and capital budget report preparation and maintenance.

Job description

The Business Office Intern supports the operational, financial, analytical, and administrative activities of the Business Office. The intern assists with reporting, data analysis, process improvement, documentation, and special projects while gaining practical experience in higher education business administration.

Essential Functions
  • Assists with financial, operational, and administrative projects within the Business Office.
  • Supports data collection, validation, reconciliation, and reporting activities.
  • Assists in preparing reports, analyses, dashboards, and presentations for leadership and department managers.
  • Supports budgeting, forecasting, accounting, procurement, and business operations activities as assigned.
  • Participates in process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Assists in documenting business processes, procedures, and workflows.
  • Conducts research and special projects related to Business Office functions.
  • Supports the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of University information.
  • Collaborates with Business Office staff and other University departments to support organizational objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Internship Concentration – Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Assist in preparation and maintenance of operating and capital budget reports.
  • Support budget development and forecasting activities.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and identify trends.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring financial KPIs and dashboards.
  • Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist with financial modeling and analytical projects.
Position Qualifications:
  • Must be an active student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field; OR
  • Be a recent graduate seeking practical experience in financial planning, budgeting, or business analysis.
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with Power BI, reporting tools, or data visualization software is preferred.
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, financial statement analysis, or accounting principles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, Fusion, or Axiom EPM is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure accuracy and completeness of work.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding University financial and operational information.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
