Job summary

Green Hills Communications in Breckenridge, MO / Higginsville, MO is seeking a Business Services Technician I to install, troubleshoot, and support business technology services for community customers.

You will work with end users to resolve issues, configure hosted IP phone services, VOIP, and internal phone systems, and travel to customer sites for deployments and projects. Strong troubleshoot and hardware/software knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required or at least 2 years of experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Installs and troubleshoots POTS services, internet access services, hosted services (including hosted IP phone service), and data backup services for all business customers.
• Work with end users to understand their problems and then resolve their problems with minimal supervision.
• Provide technical support for a variety of network products ranging from simple un-managed switches to multiple vendor firewall and Internet security devices. This support includes supporting customers with multiple sites and complex VPN configurations.
• Setup, configure, and handle trouble calls for all hosted (VOIP) phone services
• Manage and support internal phone systems at all sites
• Answer trouble calls from business customers to determine best avenue for solution
• Setup and configure desktop workstations prior to deployment to business customer sites
• Support other Business Services Technicians to give remote support to Business customers during high volume situations or absences
• Assist Information Systems Manager with internal PC’s and printers
• Travel to customer sites and assist with large phone system deployments and projects
• Perform other related duties as assigned

General Summary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must have experience working with computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems including but not limited to:
• Microsoft Windows & Server
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/etc.)
• Firewalls
• Firm understanding of the Ethernet layers
• Must have troubleshooting abilities and be able to isolate a problem to it’s failing component
• Ability to listen and ask probing questions to assist in the troubleshooting process.
• Ability to use power tools, understand network diagnostic tools and install, terminate and test ethernet cables

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Associates degree required or at least 2 years of experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
