Job summary

Amazon Logistics is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to develop and support BI and operations reporting for a fast-growing, global delivery network. You will design, implement, and operate data pipelines from production systems into a data warehouse and end-user applications.

You will collaborate with Operations, Analytics, HR, and Tech teams to translate business questions into data-driven solutions, and to drive improvements in on-time delivery and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with data warehouses like Redshift/Oracle/NoSQL.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Quicksight.
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.
  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab.
  • SQL querying and Python scripting for data processing and modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver end-to-end BI solutions.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Software teams to prioritize BI development needs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify new BI capabilities and projects.
  • Lead and develop a team of BI Engineers and Analysts.
  • Conduct deep-dive investigations into operations and business problems and implement solutions.
  • Analyze and visualize large-scale logistics and transaction data and produce actionable insights.
  • Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and ongoing reporting.

Amazon Logistics is looking for a smart and ambitious individual to develop and support Amazon Logistics business intelligence and operations reporting and management systems. Amazon Logistics is a large, rapidly growing package delivery operation, that handles packages for Amazon and our customers with worldwide operations.

The potential candidate will support analysis, improvement and creation of metrics and dashboards on Amazon Logistics and Transportation by Amazon. In addition, she/he will work with internal customers at all levels of the organization – Operations, Customer service, HR, Technology, Operational Research, Health & Safety, Loss & Prevention. As an Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer you will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. You should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, and to build data sets that answer those questions. You should be expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. You should be able to work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions.

Above all you should be passionate about bringing large datasets together to answer business questions and drive change.

Key job responsibilities
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering end to end solutions
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Software Development Engineers to prioritize and define AMZL data and BI development needs
  • Work with in-house scientists, global supply chain, transportation and logistics teams to identify new BI capabilities and projects
  • Lead and develop a team of Business Intelligence Engineers and Business Analysts
  • Conduct deep dive investigations into operations execution and business problems, identify opportunities, and lead or support implementation (role varies by opportunity)
  • Analyze and visualize large scale geo-spatial logistics and transaction data to articulate user behavior or delivery process problems, and output solid analysis report with recommendation.
  • Serve as liaison between the WW Planning and Analytics team and the operations business teams to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current delivery performance, and ad hoc investigations into future improvements or innovations. This will require data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations
  • Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting
About the team

This role is within Amazon Logistics (AMZL) ORBIT (Operations Reporting, Business Intelligence, and Technology) team. This team works as an integral part of AMZL worldwide to ensure that its business intelligence and analytics needs are met. By providing information, insight, and decision support, we strive to enable success of all parts of AMZL. Our customer set includes senior management, station operations, DSP management, Flex management, long-term planning, Ops technology (Voice of the Delivery Station, Voice of the Customer), network planning, and pretty much every BI and Ops teams in AMZL.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
  • Master's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
  • Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis
