The Business Intelligence Analyst position is two-fold: it is responsible for gathering, scrubbing, analyzing, and reporting data, and for using that data to facilitate more effective strategic business decisions.

Utilizing strong collaboration, the position works directly with key stakeholders to understand the business environment, business processes and procedures, and organization objectives. It understands the business context, constraints, and problems, and evaluates business processes for efficiency, cost, and other value metrics, communicating insights with business teams. Using data prepares and presents recommendations for process adjustments, procedures, and performance improvements, translating business needs into technical and data-driven solutions. Understands the risk, rewards, and challenges the organization faces with every decision it makes. The position is crucial to developing business strategies based on data analytics.

The position is proficient in the use of query and reporting analysis tools to perform standardized data collection, data compilation, data integrity checks, and data analysis. Uses specific technical skills, such as Structured Query Language (SQL), to extract data from databases and data warehouses in preparation for data system sharing, analysis, and reporting. Uses business intelligence tools, such as Power BI, to present and communicate extracted data in a compelling manner. Uses modeling and reporting tools, such as Microsoft Excel, to design validation reports, databases, and presentation reports. Troubleshoots potential and known issues. Use established procedures and work independently in support of objectives.

Role Requirements
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field. May substitute equivalent combination of education and experience for bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be proficient with SQL, both in coding queries and procedures and interpretation of code.
  • Must be highly proficient with Power BI analysis tools.
  • Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Must have accounting knowledge and financial acumen related to budgets and financial statements.
  • Must have strong collaboration skills to develop a firm understanding of the organization’s objectives, procedures, and operations.
  • Must have the ability to evaluate business processes and translate business needs into technical and data-driven solutions.
  • Must have critical thinking and strategic business skills.
  • Must have the ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate, concise recommendations in oral, written, and visual formats.
  • Must have strong conceptual, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Must be able to learn new software applications with minimal instruction.
  • Must be a self-starter, high-level producer with strong communication skills. Must be able to independently address complex problems and independently respond to data analysis and reporting requirements.
  • Must have the ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
  • Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings, as appropriate.
