Job summary

Hard Rock Hotel Cancun seeks a Business Analyst to translate business needs into technical specifications and manage analytics across resort and administrative systems. You will interface with owners, operators, and IT to deliver enterprise-wide solutions and dashboards.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience as a business analyst or similar role.
  • Casino gaming & hospitality background preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, and process descriptions.
  • Create digital dashboards and provide real-time analytics for business owners and operators.
  • Provide financial and productivity analytics and automated forecasts.
  • Document processes, agendas and minutes for the Operations Development team.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications for IT.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and business owners to deliver effective solutions.
  • Develop enterprise-wide requirements and document user documentation; train users.
  • Participate in multiple initiatives and support QA and release management of applications.
  • Provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting.

Job Description

The Business Analyst specializes in understanding the needs of the business owners & operators and translating them into technical & analytical specifications. This position will act as an interface to the business owners and operational leaders, as well as the technology & financial departments, as well as implementing and supporting the Enterprise Applications and Analytics within several core functional areas of the business: resort systems (gaming and hospitality), and administrative systems (human resources and finance). The position involves analysis and presentation of information to business owners & operational leadership, including but not limited to marketing, hotel, finance, gaming operations, and human resources. It requires proficiency with developing requirements documents, knowledge of the business and strong communication skills. The position will also be responsible for the QA and project management of any new or changes to the applications before they are released and deployed into the Production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Gather requirements using interviews, document analysis, critical path, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis
  • Acquire and index data, organizing data, connecting data, creating digital dashboards, and providing effective analytics in real-time, as well as providing the ability for users to dive down into the historical data, and future forecasts, that is cultivated with proper assumptions derived from appropriate research and validated by business owners and operational leaders, and in a timely manner.
  • Provide financial and productivity analytics and budgets, and creating automated forecasts
  • Documenting all processes, procedures, agendas and minutes for pertinent information for the Operations Development team
  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, decompose high-level information into details, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with technical team and business owners to analyze information needs and functional requirements to deliver an effective solution
  • Develop and document enterprise wide requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Develop user documentation and conduct training as required
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into operational requirements
  • Partake in small or complex applications rollout to single or multi-properties
  • Partake in the QA and release management of new and changes to applications through thorough testing, debugging and user acceptance before planning and executing deployment into Production
  • Develop documentation and critical paths for users to install, operate and support.
  • Provide end user training
  • Provide post implementation support and troubleshooting
  • Analyze problems and escalates issues in a timely manner for quick resolution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers and subject matter experts
  • Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
  • Works on multiple high priority projects concurrently
  • Employs productivity aids in all aspects of assignments Maintains and enhances technical skills through formal and on-the-job training Responds to and assists with other problem tickets as required Ability to travel for business when needed Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Associate degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields preferred or equivalent experience
  • Casino gaming & hospitality background or experience preferred
  • 5-8 years related experience as business analyst or similar position
  • Expert in business intelligence performance management software, and data visualization tools, including but not limited to SQL, Tableau, Cognos, Microsoft SHRSS Project Management/Coordination practices, techniques, and software expert
  • Highly personable and able to communicate clearly and build strong relationship across business groups and with IT personnel
  • Ability to translate business requirements to technical requirements to enable IT technical teams
  • Stakeholder management, including department leaders, vendors and consultants
