Job summary

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Business Development Portfolio Analyst to support energy market growth and client engagement. You will work with Market Leaders, CSOs, and ISMs to manage opportunities and proposals across multiple locations in a hybrid setup.

The role requires 5+ years in the energy or BD space, a relevant degree, and strong proficiency in CRM tools and office software. You will help shape strategies, coordinate contracts, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, marketing, communications, data analytics or related field.
  • Five+ years of relevant energy industry or BD experience in professional services.
  • Understanding of energy markets, stakeholders, utilities, renewables, procurement and regulation.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting business development activities.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM/pipeline-management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze market trends to identify business opportunities and support Energy Market growth.
  • Assist CSMs with account planning, capture strategies, go/no-go intel, and client engagement.
  • Maintain opportunity pipelines using CRM and market intel tools; identify data gaps.
  • Support go/no-go documentation and RMC presentations.
  • Assist with proposal setup, RFP downloads, scope/fee proposals, and interviews.
  • Coordinate with delivery teams to keep proposal timelines on schedule and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Track BD performance metrics, ROI, and progress toward goals.
  • Prepare and coordinate contracts and master services agreements using templates.
  • Assist conference planning by tracking leads and coordinating follow-ups.
  • Travel as required.

The Business Development Portfolio Analyst will support business development activities across the Energy Market, reporting directly to the Energy Market Leader. The successful candidate will partner with the Market Leader, Growth Leaders, and Client Service Managers (CSMs), and Inside Sales Managers (ISMs) to support client engagement, opportunity management and strategic business development initiatives that contribute to market growth.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Analyze market trends to identify potential business opportunities, maintain forward-looking solicitation calendar, and support Energy Market growth strategies.
  • Support CSMs with account planning, capture strategies, go/no-go intel gathering, and client engagement.
  • Support CSMs by building and maintaining opportunity pipelines using CRM and market intelligence tools, identify data gaps, and support accurate sales forecasts.
  • Support CSMs with go/no-go documentation and Risk Management Committee (RMC) presentations.
  • Support CSMs with proposal opportunity number and folder setup, RFP downloads, and proposal formatting, scope/fee proposal development, and interview preparations.
  • Coordinate with technical delivery teams to ensure proposal delivery timelines are on schedule; client satisfaction is achieved and repeat business opportunities continue.
  • Track and report on BD performance metrics, BD return on investment, and progress toward Energy Market goals.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of contracts, master services agreements, teaming agreements, and subconsultant agreements using established company templates. Compile information and coordinate internal reviews, approvals, and execution with the appropriate parties.
  • Support conference planning by preparing meeting intelligence, tracking leads, and coordinating follow-up actions.
  • Travel as required.

  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines, appointments, and projects effectively.

  • Strong writing, editing, and presentation-development skills, including the ability to organize complex technical and business information into clear, concise, and visually effective materials.
  • Detail- and results-oriented, with the ability to take ownership of assignments, anticipate business development needs, solve problems, and follow through with limited supervision.
  • Adaptable and open to learning new processes, data sources, and technologies.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with appropriate care and discretion.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, marketing, communications, data analytics, or a related field. A power or energy focus is a plus.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in the energy industry or in business development, market research, proposal development, or a related role within the architecture, engineering, construction, utility, or professional services industries.
  • Understanding of engineering firm structure and energy markets, including stakeholder management, utilities, renewables, capital programs, procurement practices, and the regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated experience, supporting business development activities.
  • Intermediate-level expertise in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and other common office software packages, including CRM systems and pipeline-management tools.

$108,200 - $142,800 a year

(Salary range for IL, CO, and MN locations)
