Job summary

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Business Development Portfolio Analyst to support growth across the Energy Market in a hybrid environment in Illinois and neighboring states. You will partner with leadership to manage client engagement, opportunity pipelines, and proposal development, delivering timely, high-quality materials and strategic insights.

The role emphasizes collaboration, meticulous organization, and the ability to translate complex technical data into clear business cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with focus in energy or business development is preferred.
• 5+ years in energy industry or business development or related roles.
• Understanding of engineering firm structure and energy markets.
• Experience supporting business development activities.
• Intermediate-level MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze market trends to identify opportunities and support Energy Market growth.
• Support CSMs with account planning, capture strategies, go/no-go intel gathering, and client engagement.
• Build and maintain opportunity pipelines using CRM and market intelligence tools.
• Prepare go/no-go documentation and RMC presentations.
• Coordinate with technical delivery teams to ensure proposal timelines and client satisfaction.
• Track BD performance metrics and ROI, and progress toward Energy Market goals.
• Assist with contracts and subconsultant agreements using company templates.
• Support conference planning and travel as required.

The Business Development Portfolio Analyst will support business development activities across the Energy Market, reporting directly to the Energy Market Leader. The successful candidate will partner with the Market Leader, Growth Leaders, and Client Service Managers (CSMs), and Inside Sales Managers (ISMs) to support client engagement, opportunity management and strategic business development initiatives that contribute to market growth.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Analyze market trends to identify potential business opportunities, maintain forward-looking solicitation calendar, and support Energy Market growth strategies.
• Support CSMs with account planning, capture strategies, go/no-go intel gathering, and client engagement.
• Support CSMs by building and maintaining opportunity pipelines using CRM and market intelligence tools, identify data gaps, and support accurate sales forecasts.
• Support CSMs with go/no-go documentation and Risk Management Committee (RMC) presentations.
• Support CSMs with proposal opportunity number and folder setup, RFP downloads, and proposal formatting, scope/fee proposal development, and interview preparations.
• Coordinate with technical delivery teams to ensure proposal delivery timelines are on schedule; client satisfaction is achieved and repeat business opportunities continue.
• Track and report on BD performance metrics, BD return on investment, and progress toward Energy Market goals.
• Support the preparation and coordination of contracts, master services agreements, teaming agreements, and subconsultant agreements using established company templates. Compile information and coordinate internal reviews, approvals, and execution with the appropriate parties.
• Support conference planning by preparing meeting intelligence, tracking leads, and coordinating follow-up actions.
• Travel as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, marketing, communications, data analytics, or a related field. A power or energy focus is a plus.
• Five or more years of relevant experience in the energy industry or in business development, market research, proposal development, or a related role within the architecture, engineering, construction, utility, or professional services industries.
• Understanding of engineering firm structure and energy markets, including stakeholder management, utilities, renewables, capital programs, procurement practices, and the regulatory environment.
• Demonstrated experience, supporting business development activities.
• Intermediate-level expertise in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and other common office software packages, including CRM systems and pipeline-management tools.
