Job summary

Rust Automation & Controls Inc. is seeking a Service Business Development Manager to grow and support the service business across the Rust region, focusing on existing customers and new opportunities.

This remote role requires residence in CA, UT, CO areas within the Western United States and entails collaboration with Sales, Service Coordination, and Management teams. You will build a robust service pipeline, visit sites, prepare budgets and proposals, and steer opportunities from conception

Qualifications

• Former service technician and/or engineering background (preferred).
• Strong high-level understanding of industrial service disciplines and offerings.
• Ability to clearly articulate service solutions to customers and internal teams.
• Demonstrated strengths in service-based project management.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage opportunities independently.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the Rust region.

Responsibilities

• Grow service revenue within the existing customer base.
• Prospect and develop new service opportunities through meetings and site visits.
• Review installed base to identify service and lifecycle opportunities.
• Vet new and previous service opportunities.
• Follow up on large-scale opportunities via email, phone, and on-site visits.
• Conduct high-priority customer-facing visits to support opportunity development.
• Perform site walk-downs to establish full project scope and requirements.
• Create budgets, quotes, and formal proposals for service opportunities.
• Establish service opportunities that support site commissioning and future calibration needs.
• Focus calibration development within Life Sciences and Food & Beverage industries.
• Serve as liaison between Service Team, Sales Team, and customer.
• Act as primary customer point of contact for service-related activities.
• Maintain a strong pipeline with Service Coordination and Management.
• Provide focused support on large-scale and solutions-based projects once awarded.
• Participate in service opportunities from conception through maintenance cycle.
• Apply project management skills to ensure successful service execution.
• Maintain accurate CRM data, reporting, and timelines using Salesforce and NetSuite.

Position Overview

Position: Service Business Development Manager

Location: Western United States (Primary focus: CA, UT, CO- Remote role but must reside in this territory)

Rust Automation & Controls is seeking a motivated Service Business Development professional to grow and support the service business across the Rust region. This role focuses on developing service opportunities within the existing customer base, prospecting new accounts, and supporting large-scale and solutions-based industrial projects from conception through the maintenance lifecycle.

Key objectives

• Growing service revenue within the existing customer base
• Prospecting new accounts through meetings that build awareness for future opportunities
• Reviewing the installed base to identify and strategize service prospects
• Aligning service strategies with future industrial projects (IIR)
• Collaborating with the Sales Team to identify, vet, and develop opportunities
• Supporting service opportunities from initial concept through commissioning and ongoing maintenance

Role & Responsibilities

The Service Business Development Manager will support customers across the Rust region, working closely with Sales, Service Coordination, and Service Management teams to build and execute a strong service pipeline.
