Base pay range

$140,000.00/yr - $185,000.00/yr

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for growth in Sonar piezoceramics, sensors, and transducers for commercial and military applications. This position will lead the acquisition of new program business while managing existing programs and accounts.

This position is remote, but the ideal candidate will reside in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or New Hampshire near our customers. Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. Active security clearance preferred.

The Business Development Manager is a “working manager” role that succeeds by direct action and collaboration with all other business functions, both internal and across the broader organization. The successful incumbent will grow Mil/Aero program business by managing and expanding sales with key customers, delivering new customers, recommending and identifying new products, and evaluating new business opportunities. They will develop, manage, and execute a business development strategy that identifies strategic directions and growth opportunities, monitoring performance against goals. Collaboration with marketing, product management, FAEs, and engineering is essential.

This position reports directly to the General Manager and will participate in decisions concerning the future growth of the Mil/Aero market.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in sensor business development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development experience within a defense contractor or subcontractor environment.
  • Strong personal networking abilities and effective communication with executive leadership in Aerospace and Defense sectors, and within the Department of Defense.
  • Familiarity with underwater acoustics, TINA, and certified cost submissions.
  • Ability to travel more than 60% of the time, including domestic and international travel. Relocation is not required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. Active clearance preferred.

Skills include strategic selling, deal closing, marketing principles, sales management, strategic thinking, data analysis, technical proposal writing, project management, and proficiency with Microsoft applications and sales databases.

Education requirements include an MBA, Bachelor of Science in a technical field, or equivalent experience. Professional training in business development is also preferred.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Achieve double-digit growth in military and aerospace markets with existing sensor technology.
  • Coordinate strategic planning activities for military and aerospace business development.
  • Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities and maintain customer relationships.
  • Present technical solutions and develop proposals with internal teams.
  • Utilize sales databases for tracking activities and proposals.
  • Handle customer objections and negotiations effectively.
  • Monitor schedules, support forecasting, and provide technical assistance.
  • Attend industry events and provide market feedback.
Environmental & Physical Requirements

Work primarily in an office environment with extensive travel. Must be able to sit for long periods, hear telephone communications, enter data, and lift up to 10 pounds.
