Job summary

Fluence Energy, LLC is seeking a Business Development Representative to identify and qualify new opportunities, nurture relationships, and support pipeline progression. Responsibilities

  • Identify, engage, and qualify prospective customers across target markets and customer segments.
  • Execute outbound prospecting activities and manage inbound leads to generate qualified sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Growth teams to develop and execute strategic outreach campaigns.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key industry stakeholders, decision-makers, developers, utilities, EPC partners, and customers.
  • Represent Fluence at industry conferences, trade shows, customer events, and networking opportunities.
  • Conduct discovery meetings to understand customer needs, project requirements, procurement processes, timelines, and decision-making structures.
  • Assess opportunities based on project scope, viability, readiness, and strategic fit; maintain Salesforce records.
  • Prepare opportunity assessments and contribute to pricing, proposals, and scopes of work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure seamless handover of qualified opportunities to Account Management while maintaining information continuity.
  • Deliver market intelligence on trends, competitors, policy developments, and dynamics affecting investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Strategy, Delivery, Legal, Finance to support objectives and governance.

Job Description: The Business Development Representative is responsible for generating and qualifying new business opportunities, developing early-stage customer relationships, supporting opportunity progression, and contributing to Fluence’s commercial growth strategy. Opportunity Qualification & Pipeline Management

Conduct discovery meetings to understand customer needs, project requirements, procurement processes, timelines, and decision‑making structures. Assess opportunities based on project scope, commercial viability, readiness, and strategic fit. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date customer and opportunity records within Salesforce. Prepare opportunity assessments and contribute to internal discussions regarding opportunity prioritization and resource allocation. Support the development of indicative pricing, preliminary proposals, and high‑level scopes of work in collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Ensure seamless handover of qualified opportunities to Account Management teams while maintaining continuity of information.

Relationship Management & Market Intelligence

Deliver compelling introductory presentations and value propositions that position Fluence as a trusted energy storage solutions partner. Support strategic customer engagement initiatives alongside Account Managers. Maintain regular communication with prospects to advance opportunities through the sales cycle. Gather and share market intelligence on customer trends, competitor activity, policy developments, and market dynamics impacting investment decisions. Provide insights and feedback to Product, Marketing, and Strategy teams to strengthen go‑to‑market initiatives and messaging.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, Delivery, Legal, Finance, and Technical teams to support business objectives and ensure governance compliance. Participate in bid planning, opportunity reviews, and sales strategy discussions. Build relationships with channel partners, industry associations, and key ecosystem stakeholders. Contribute to the continuous improvement of business development processes, sales methodologies, and supporting tools.

Qualifications & Experience

Proven experience in Business Development, Sales Development, Lead Generation, Account Development, or a similar commercial role. Strong ability to identify, qualify, and develop business opportunities. Excellent communication, presentation, networking, and relationship‑building skills. Experience working with CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce. Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Commercially focused with strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities. Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced, and cross‑functional environment. Knowledge of the energy, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), utilities, or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable. Willingness to travel as needed to support customer engagements and industry events.

Education & Professional Development

Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, or a related field. Equivalent industry experience in business development, sales, renewable energy, energy storage, or related sectors may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications. Training or certifications in sales methodologies, business development, or CRM systems are advantageous. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development within renewable energy, energy storage technologies, and commercial sales practices.
