Job summary

GEO-Instruments seeks a driven Business Development Manager to expand instrumentation and monitoring services across the Midwest and Northwest. The role offers Seattle or remote work with travel to client sites and project opportunities.

You will blend technical insight with strategic BD to grow the client base and ROI. Travel is expected regionally; you will present at conferences, engage with engineers and contractors, and drive proposals and negotiations to contract awards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnics, Mining, Geomatics or Geophysics.
  • Minimum 5 years of business development experience in geotechnical construction or mining is an asset.
  • Professional Engineer designation a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop regional business development and marketing strategies aligned with GEO-Instruments' growth, revenue, and profitability objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new project opportunities throughout the assigned territory.
  • Generate and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities through prospecting, networking, and client engagement activities.
  • Lead project pursuit strategies, client presentations, and opportunity development from initial engagement through contract award.
  • Prepare proposals, estimates, and supporting documentation for quotations or RFPs.
  • Negotiate service agreements and project contracts; meet or exceed bookings and revenue targets.
  • Collaborate with Area Managers and Operations to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.

We are seeking an energetic person for the role ofBusiness Development Manager – Instrumentation & Monitoring for the Midwest & Northwest regions. This position can work out of our Seattle, Washington office or remotely from home with travel to various regions.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and execute regional business development and marketing strategies aligned with GEO-Instruments's growth, revenue, and profitability objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new project opportunities throughout the assigned territory.
  • Generate and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities through prospecting, networking, strategic outreach, industry events, and client engagement activities.
  • Lead project pursuit strategies, client presentations, and opportunity development efforts from initial engagement through contract award.
  • Preparing I&M proposals, estimates and supporting documentation for quotation or RFP's submissions.
  • Negotiate service agreements, master service agreements, and project contracts.
  • Meet or exceed annual bookings, revenue, and profitability targets.

Market Development

  • Analyze regional market trends, infrastructure investment programs, and capital improvement initiatives to identify strategic growth opportunities.
  • Track upcoming public and private projects requiring instrumentation, monitoring, and risk management solutions.
  • Develop market intelligence and business opportunities across transportation, transit, rail, bridges, tunnels, dams, water resources, utilities, energy, mining, industrial, and commercial infrastructure sectors.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with engineering consultants, contractors, owners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent GEO-Instruments at industry conferences, trade associations, trade shows, networking events, client visits, lunch and learns.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering consulting firms, contractors, transit agencies, Departments of Transportation, utility authorities, energy owners, municipalities, and private developers.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by providing expertise in instrumentation, monitoring strategies, and risk management solutions.
  • Conduct regular client visits, project reviews, and business development meetings throughout the assigned territory.
  • Collaborate with operations and project delivery teams to ensure successful project execution, client satisfaction, and repeat business opportunities.
  • Expand strategic client accounts and develop new opportunities within existing relationships.

Strategic Growth & Opportunity Management

  • Collaborate with Area Managers, Regional Engineers, Project Managers, and Operations teams to develop client-focused technical solutions and pursuit strategies.
  • Coordinate the preparation of proposals, qualifications packages, RFQs, RFPs, estimates, and other pre-bid documentation.
  • Support market adoption of emerging monitoring technologies, including automated monitoring systems, remote monitoring platforms, structural health monitoring, digital twin solutions, and advanced data analytics applications.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive feedback to company leadership regarding industry trends, customer needs, and emerging opportunities.
  • Evaluate strategic partnership, acquisition, and market expansion opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, opportunity tracking, and client engagement records using CRM systems.
  • Prepare regular business development reports, pipeline reviews, and sales forecasts for leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Geotechnics, Mining, Geomatics or Geophysics
  • Minimum of 5 years’ business development experience in geotechnical construction or mining industry an asset.
  • Registered Professional Engineer designation a plus
  • Ability to blend technical problem-solving skills with practical business intuition
  • Willingness to travel regionally to promote sales and develop client-customer relationships
  • Work well in a team environment but excel as a self-starter with the ability to work effectively with minimal direction and guidelines
  • Comfortable interacting in a geotechnical engineering environment within the construction community (including engineers, architects, contractors, and owners)
  • Creativity in demonstrating GEO-Instruments / Keller's unique values in geotechnical construction solutions to contractors and engineers
  • Demonstrated records of accomplishments creating and managing business opportunities to effectively implement winning engineering strategies
  • Ability to quickly evaluate both technical and commercial viability of opportunities to provide value to project teams
  • Strong prioritization skills and self-motivation with a strong sense of urgency
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Willingness to make internal and external client presentations.
