Job Description

Salary:

The Business Development Manager for Infrared Materials and Optics will drive sales for Vital Materials' Infrared, Optics, and Lasers business unit. As the only company worldwide to grow or melt all common infrared optical materials, Vital's portfolio includes germanium, silicon, zinc sulfide, zinc selenide, chalcogenide glasses, and more. Components made from these materials include blanks, windows, lenses, and lens assemblies manufactured through our vertically integrated processes. Leveraging Vital's vertical integration, global presence, and engineering resources, the Business Development Manager will help grow our market share to position Vital as the leading Infrared Optical Material Company.

Responsibilities:

  • Expand Vital's presence as the preferred supplier of infrared optical materials and components
  • Increase customer engagement, opportunities, and sales
  • Develop and implement business growth plans
  • Engage with potential customers and sell consultatively
  • Prepare targeted, competitive proposals and quotations
  • Close and secure ongoing and future business opportunities
  • Develop OEM/ODM sales in selected markets
  • Visit existing and prospective customers regularly to build rapport
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications for global engineers
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Collaborate to develop and meet success metrics
  • Ensure customer satisfaction

Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years in infrared optical material sales
  • Experience with and passion for effective CRM utilization

Education:

  • B.Sc. in Engineering or Business; B.A. preferred

Position Location:

Remote (USA)

Travel:

Regular domestic and occasional international travel required.
