Business Development Manager, Builder Accounts

The Single Family Business Development Manager for our Moen brand will develop a market strategy targeting national and regional single-family home builders to grow builder business and expand market share in Southern California. Collaboration with other territory managers and support for wholesalers in the region are key aspects of this role.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in outside sales and large account management, be highly autonomous, and willing to travel overnight approximately 1-3 nights per month. Experience in contract negotiation and managing a P&L is also desirable.

This remote position is based in the Los Angeles area. We provide a company car, laptop, and cell phone. The salary range is approximately $115,000 to $140,000 base, with a bonus opportunity based on territory performance. The territory includes Southern California, covering Paso Robles, Bakersfield, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Achieving annual sales targets and contributing to overall business goals.
  2. Collaborating with the Regional Manager to develop a market strategy focused on builders, owners, contractors, developers, and architects.
  3. Expanding relationships and increasing market share with top builders.
  4. Mentoring Territory Managers to develop their BDM skills.
  5. Partnering with Territory Managers to set and meet annual targets.
  6. Building and maintaining professional relationships with strategic builders.
  7. Maximizing the use of the Moen product portfolio with single-family builders.
  8. Driving specifications for national accounts at the regional level.
  9. Utilizing technology and process improvements to enhance field effectiveness.
  10. Supporting the Regional Manager in developing regional sales support networks.
  11. Creating and presenting fact-based business proposals to decision-makers.
  12. Managing budgets within approved guidelines to sustain and grow business.
  13. Monitoring market trends, consumer and trade attitudes, and competitive practices.
  14. Coordinating resources to maximize sales with strategic customers.

Basic qualifications:

  • 5+ years of outside sales experience
  • Contract negotiation skills with key accounts
  • Understanding of marketing and product development in a corporate environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent presentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Market analysis and strategic response skills
  • Flexibility to travel and work non-standard hours

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in the home products industry is a plus. Salary range is estimated between $115,000 and $140,000, with potential bonuses or incentives.
