My client is a fast-growing biotech company at the forefront of antibody drug discovery, with expertise spanning immuno-oncology, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, neurology, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, and more. The ideal candidate combines strong scientific credibility in antibody discovery with the strategic and relationship-building skills to lead licensing, co-development, and partnership opportunities.
This is a fully on-site role based in Waltham, MA, with local travel required for client and partner meetings.
Job Responsibilities:
- Identify and establish external business opportunities for out-licensing, co-development, and other structured transactions.
- Lead the development and presentation of business cases for prioritized external opportunities, including robust analyses, key assumptions, risks, and internal/external input where necessary.
- Initiate, lead, and present external opportunities with limited supervision.
- Drive cross-functional due diligence and alliance management, coordinating with R&D, CMC, Clinical, Regulatory, Operations, and Finance; serve as a main point of contact for business development activities.
- Manage BD operations and transactions, including proposals, term sheet development, negotiations, deal closure, and ongoing alliance management.
- Contribute to the definition and evolution of business development and licensing strategy in alignment with overall corporate and portfolio strategy.
- Represent the company at industry, investor, and partnering conferences; develop and maintain relationships across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in pharmacology, immunology, cancer biology, or a related biomedical science field.
- Strong background in antibody drug discovery, including target validation and the ability to interpret complex biological data (e.g., affinity, specificity, in vivo efficacy) and translate it into a compelling therapeutic and licensing narrative.
- Solid understanding of current antibody modalities, including monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), bispecific antibodies, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), required.
- Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to align internal scientific platform capabilities with pharmaceutical partner pipeline needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific and business information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Must currently reside in or near the Waltham, MA area; this role is fully on-site with no relocation assistance offered. Candidates should be prepared for local travel to client and partner meetings.
- Mandarin/English bilingual proficiency, helpful for bridging global R&D and business communications.
