Job description

The Phoenix Group Advisors (TPG) is a New York-based staffing and recruiting firm serving clients across Technology and Professional Services (Legal & Administrative). Our recruiters place high-caliber talent for financial services, BigLaw, fintech, and technology employers across the most competitive markets in the country. As we grow, we're adding a dedicated Business Development Manager to drive the top of our funnel: new clients and new job orders.

ROLE OVERVIEW

This is a pure hunting role. The Business Development Manager is solely responsible for generating new client relationships and new job requisitions for TPG's recruiting teams — this role does not carry a candidate desk or delivery responsibilities. You will be the tip of the spear for firm growth, opening doors with hiring managers, HR leaders, and talent acquisition teams, and handing off qualified job orders to our Technology and Professional Services recruiting practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prospect and generate new client relationships across Technology and Professional Services (Legal & Administrative) target markets through outbound calling, email campaigns, LinkedIn/social outreach, and networking.
  • Identify and qualify companies with active or upcoming hiring needs; convert prospects into signed client agreements
  • Secure new job requisitions from both new and dormant/former TPG clients, expanding job order volume across the desk
  • Run a consistent, high-volume outbound cadence (calls, emails, meetings) against weekly and monthly new-business targets
  • Conduct client intake and needs‑assessment calls to scope job requirements, then hand off qualified reqs to the appropriate recruiting team with a clean, actionable brief
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of target accounts and decision‑makers in CRM, tracking outreach, meetings, signed agreements, and job order volume
  • Represent TPG in client‑facing meetings, pitches, and industry networking events; own the case studies and pitch materials used in the sales process
  • Negotiate fee agreements and terms of business with new clients in line with firm standards
  • Partner closely with recruiting leadership to align new business efforts with practice capacity and market deman
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and reporting on new‑business activity and pipeline health
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 2+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client‑facing new‑business roles — staffing/recruiting industry experience strongly preferred
  • Track record of hitting or exceeding new‑business or sales targets in a metrics‑driven environment
  • Strong cold‑outreach skills: comfortable with high call/email volume and consistent pipeline‑building activity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; polished and credible in front of HR leaders, hiring managers, and executives
  • Familiarity with the Technology and/or Legal & Administrative staffing markets in the NYC area is a plus
  • Comfortable working in CRM systems to track outreach, pipeline, and job order flow
  • Self‑starter who thrives on autonomy, competition, and being measured on new logos and new job orders opened
