Qualifications

  • 5+ years in business development or engineering in rail or infrastructure.
  • Established relationships across West Coast rail and transit markets.
  • Strong understanding of public infrastructure procurement.
  • Experience with transit authorities, operators, engineers, or contractors.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel across North America.

With a strong track record of delivering complex projects, we are expanding our presence in North America and are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive our growth across the Rail and Transit sector across the West Coast region

This is an opportunity for a commercially driven professional with strong industry relationships and a passion for developing strategic opportunities in one of the world's fastest-growing transport markets.

About the Role:

Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities across the Rail and Transit market. You will establish and strengthen relationships with transit authorities, engineering consultants, contractors and government agencies to position Martinus Group as a trusted delivery partner.

You will work closely with operational and technical teams to develop winning strategies, identify emerging market opportunities, and support the preparation of compelling proposals and tenders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy for the West Coast Rail and Transit market.
  • Identify and qualify new project opportunities across rail infrastructure, transit systems, renewals and related services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with public transport agencies, rail owners, engineering firms, contractors and key industry stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends, capital investment programs and procurement pipelines to identify future opportunities.
  • Lead client engagement activities including meetings, presentations, networking events and industry conferences.
  • Support bid and proposal development, including customer engagement, commercial positioning and win strategies.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into practical delivery solutions.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and provide regular market intelligence and forecasting to leadership.
  • Represent Martinus Group professionally and uphold our values of safety, integrity, innovation and excellence.

About you:

You are a relationship builder who understands the rail industry and enjoys creating long-term partnerships that deliver commercial success.

  • Demonstrated experience in business development or engineering role within the Rail, Transit or broader infrastructure sector.
  • Established relationships across West Coast rail and transit markets.
  • Strong understanding of public infrastructure procurement and major project delivery.
  • Experience working with transit authorities, rail operators, engineering consultants or civil contractors.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to develop and execute growth strategies.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with international teams.
  • Willingness to travel throughout North America as required.
