AVX Aircraft in Fort Worth, Texas, is seeking a Business Development Intern to support defense market research, opportunity identification, and competitive analysis within the Strategy and Business Development teams.

You will work directly with company leadership on real federal pipeline activities, using SAM.gov and Hire.gov, and gain hands-on exposure to DoD contracting, AI-enabled research, and aircraft sustainment markets.

Qualifications

• Pursuing MBA or related degree; strong interest in defense/aerospace/government contracting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market research to identify DoD and federal contracting opportunities.

Full-time, Monday – Friday (9-80 work schedule, every other Friday off)

Position Overview:

This is not a shadow-and-observe internship. This is a working seat inside our Strategy and Business development teams.AVX is seeking a motivated and analytically driven Business Development Intern to support defense market research, opportunity identification, and competitive analysis efforts.This role is ideal for a student interested in defense contracting, aerospace, AI-enabled research, and strategic growth initiatives within a small business environment. The intern will work directly with company leadership and gain hands-on exposure to real-world federal business development operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct market research to identify U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and federal contracting opportunities.
• Utilize platforms such as SAM.gov, Hire.gov, and other federal procurement databases to track relevant solicitations.
• Monitor upcoming solicitations, RFPs, SBIR/STTR opportunities, and sustainment-related contracts.
• Perform competitive assessments, including analysis of incumbent contractors and contract award history.
• Support development of opportunity briefs and pipeline tracking reports.
• Leverage AI tools to enhance market research, data synthesis, and opportunity forecasting.

Desired Qualifications:

• Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Public Policy, Aerospace, Engineering Management, or related field; currently pursuing an MBA.
• Strong interest in defense, aerospace, or government contracting.
• Experience conducting structured market research and competitive analysis.
• AI-savvy — comfortable using AI research tools to synthesize data and improve efficiency.
• Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills.
• Self-starter comfortable working in a small, entrepreneurial environment.
