SCN - Search Consulting Network is seeking a Business Development Hands-On Engineer – Speaker and Sound in Metro Detroit. The role focuses on driving new opportunities with U.S. automotive OEMs and providing technical and commercial leadership across global teams.

You will interpret specifications for speakers, amplifiers, and cabin sound tuning, and work closely with design counterparts in Japan to lead program proposals and responses to RFIs/RFQs.

Job Summary

This role drives business development and provides engineering support for premium automotive sound systems, with a strong focus on loudspeakers, for U.S. automotive OEMs. As a key regional liaison, you will connect local premium automotive customers with the company's global teams and work closely with design counterparts in Japan around the world to lead program proposals (RFI/RFQ).

This dual role calls for a strong mix of commercial strategy and hands‑on technical skill. You will need the engineering background to interpret and optimize specifications for speakers, amplifiers, and vehicle sound system tuning.

Position Highlights

Key Responsibilities

• New Business Acquisition: Partner with the automotive sales team to identify new loudspeaker and premium sound opportunities, and lead the global team in building winning technical responses for regional RFI/RFQ submissions.
• OEM Customer Liaison: Serve as the primary technical and commercial contact for U.S. automakers, guiding programs from inquiry through award.
• Technical Program Management: Act as the technical bridge between OEM customers and internal engineering, applying your knowledge of speakers, amplifiers, and cabin sound tuning to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Work with the global loudspeaker architect and cross-functional teams to align project deliverables and product roadmaps.
• Experience: Deep OEM speaker knowledge and direct experience with or for major premium audio suppliers
• Technical Skills: Proven understanding of automotive loudspeaker design, vehicle packaging, amplifier specifications, and vehicle sound system tuning.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage complex programs across a global team while building strong relationships with OEM buyers and engineers.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Acoustic, Electrical, or Mechanical) or a closely related technical field.
