Job Overview

The Aerospace and Defense (A&D) business unit at TE Connectivity has an opportunity for a Business Development Engineer & Systems Architect in the US to support Rugged Fiber Optics (RFO) in North America. The right candidate will work intimately with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing applications. Identifies new applications, requirements, modifications and enhancements to meet customer specifications. Responsible for all technical aspects of the sales cycle for potential application of products to meet customer needs, including identifying opportunities; determining solutions; creating demand; preparing detailed product specifications and technical marketing support; ensuring high quality and timely project execution and conducting follow-up technical support.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  1. Hunt for new business and actively seek new sales opportunities by aligning customer needs to grow the sales pipeline in line with the RFO product and technology map.
  2. Develop a network of contacts within the customer organization to enhance cooperation and become a trusted partner.
  3. Understand the customer's strategy and technology roadmap, the market, the competition, and trends and apply this knowledge to drive and create new solutions.

Systems / Technical Interaction with the Customer – 50%

  1. Function as the technical interface between the customer and TE providing high-quality customer support, consulting, and advice on all technical-related topics.
  2. Identify current and future customer needs with RFO application knowledge and to find appropriate solutions while promoting RFO's technical portfolio.
  3. Penetrate customers' design cycle to be involved in the early stages of new product/platform planning.
  4. Contribute to new product development opportunities for TE at the customer with the ability to provide conceptual design modeling.
  5. Generate, prepare, and present TE Proposals (ex. product selection, design solutions, product specifications, project objectives) to customers working closely with sales and product management.
  6. Ensure product samples, supporting design, and product verification activities are delivered to customers on time.
What your background should look like:

Education:

  1. 4-year technical or business degree required.
  2. Advanced degree experience preferred.

Experience:

  1. 8+ years of experience in a combination of business, sales, and engineering.
  2. Aerospace & Defense market knowledge preferred; US ITAR clearance required.
  3. Fiber Optics product knowledge required.
  4. Strong organizational skills, and a strong sense of personal commitment to growth/business success.
  5. Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to simplify complex concepts.
  6. Result-oriented way of working.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $129,600 - $194,400 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
