We are seeking a Business Development Director to join Red Clay Consulting, with strong Utility industry consulting and system integrator/implementation experience, specifically in the areas of Customer Information Systems (CIS), Meter Data Management (MDM), Asset Management, Mobile Workforce Management systems, and Advisory Services.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Research new prospects, contacts, and map/segment the marketplace; manage and grow contacts.
  • Contribute to the growth of Red Clay through participation in each stage of the sales cycle, from relationship building to proposal development and delivery.
  • Understand utility client’s meter-to-cash cycle and customer service improvement needs, and develop detailed proposals to address them.
  • Understand utility asset management and mobile workforce management business and develop detailed proposals.
  • Identify and support the pursuit of new customers and prospects within electric, water, and gas utilities.
  • Contribute as an emerging technologies subject matter expert in the business development process.
  • Create scopes, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for prospects.
  • Actively build a professional network within the utility community.
  • Attend industry conferences nationwide to introduce Red Clay to new prospects and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Lead personal and network-based sales pursuits.
  • Engage in weekly prospecting and networking activities (events, meetings, calls, emails) to acquire new clients and increase brand awareness.
  • Provide leadership in the sales pursuit process and proposal delivery teams.
  • Identify and develop industry-specific alliance partners to generate leads for Red Clay.

Skills and Core Capabilities:

  • Familiarity with Oracle Utilities C2M and other meter-to-cash cycle applications and deployment options.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Utilities WACS and OFS applications and deployment options.
  • Proven success in managing multiple opportunities and negotiating complex deals.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Business, or relevant fields.
  • Ability to travel Monday through Thursday up to 80%.
  • 6-12 years of work experience, including at least five years in professional services consulting.
  • Preferably six years of experience within the utilities industry.
  • Deep experience with Customer Information Systems (CIS), Asset Management, and Advisory services.
  • Effective networking and communication skills, with the ability to build trust across organizational levels and with external partners, including at the C-level.
