Troutman Pepper Locke LLP is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to join the Marketing and Business Development team, supporting the Private Equity + Investment Funds practice group. You will collaborate with attorneys and BD colleagues to plan and deliver tailored materials and high-impact initiatives that drive growth.

Responsibilities include research, RFP responses, pitch materials, submissions, client alerts, events, and cross-practice collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of four years of marketing and business development experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services.
  • Experience supporting a legal practice or similar environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to cultivate business with current and prospective clients.
  • Conduct client, prospect, industry, competitor, and market research to inform BD efforts.
  • Create high-quality pitch materials, responses to RFPs, and client presentations.
  • Support legal directory and award submissions and league tables.
  • Develop and distribute client alerts, newsletters, blogs and thought leadership pieces.
  • Plan and execute events, sponsorships, webinars and speaking engagements.
  • Promote group successes with the communications team and identify media opportunities.
  • Identify cross‑practice connections and opportunities for visibility.
  • Collect and organize matter data for Foundation, and handle InterAction functions.
  • Collaborate with Practice Management on internal BD initiatives.
  • Respond to client inquiries promptly and follow up as appropriate.

Job description

The Business Development Coordinator is an important client service role and an integral part of the Marketing and Business Development team that works closely with the firm’s Private Equity + Investment Funds practice group.The Business Development Coordinator will work collaboratively with practice group attorneys and members of the Business Development team on timely planning and delivery of high-quality materials in support of the attorneys’ key strategic growth initiatives. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*** Assist in developing and implementing strategies to cultivate business with current and prospective clients.* Conduct client, prospect, industry, competitor, and market research/analysis to inform targeted business development efforts.* Assist in the creation of high quality, tailored pitch materials, responses to RFPs and client presentations.* Assist with the development of legal directory and award submissions and regular league table submissions.* Assist with the development and distribution of client alerts, newsletters, blogs, and other thought leadership pieces.* Coordinate the planning and execution of events, sponsorships, webinars and speaking engagements. This includes venue research, coordinating budget and logistics, drafting marketing communications (invitations, presentations, collateral, etc.), coordinating with vendors, program development, on-site support, tracking and follow up activities.* Work with the firm’s communications team to effectively promote the successes and legal expertise of the group’s attorneys, including identifying media, publishing, and speaking opportunities that align with the profile-raising objectives of the practices.* Identify cross-practice connections and opportunities for practices to increase internal visibility.* Collect and organize matter data for inclusion in Foundation, the firm’s experience management system.* Handle InterAction-related functions—develop and maintain marketing lists and business development activities, research, reports, etc.* Work collaboratively with the firm’s Practice Management department to assist with internal organizational efforts of the group, as appropriate, including participation in practice group meetings.* Identify and respond to internal and external client inquiries in a timely manner and seek feedback/follow-up as appropriate.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*** Strong project and process management capabilities.* Highly motivated, results-oriented, creative, and collaborative.* Well-organized with strong attention to detail.* Proactive and able to remain flexible while delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.* Works well under pressure and can manage and prioritize simultaneous, time-sensitive deadlines across assigned practices.* Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with practice group attorneys, Marketing and Business Development Department peers, and other administrative departments of the firm.* Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook* Able to work independently while keeping BD leadership and attorneys apprised of progress on identified BD projects and initiatives.* Ability to work effectively both independently and with teams to promote consistent and efficient workflow processes.* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide high-quality service and partner effectively with diverse groups of people at various levels within the firm as well as external contacts. **Education and/or Experience:*** Bachelor's degree required and/or any combination of experience, education or training that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.* Minimum of four (4) years of marketing and business development experience, preferably within a law firm or a professional services organization.* Prior successful work history supporting a legal practice or similar experience.The Firm will comply with any applicable city or state workplace mandates in effect in regards to Covid-19. *This position description is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of the job.
