Job description

Position Title: Business Development (BDR to Director)
Position Summary

Verve Behavioral Health is seeking a business development professional to build on Verve’s business development successes and drive referrals, admissions, and growth. This position is offered across a range of levels — from representative to director level — with the final title, level, and compensation determined by the successful candidate’s experience and demonstrated capabilities. At every level, the position is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with referral sources and connecting people to treatment and back to their lives. This is a full‑time, field‑based position requiring regular travel within the assigned territory.

Core Responsibilities (both levels)
  • Builds and maintains relationships with referral sources across an assigned territory, including hospitals, provider offices, first responders, employee assistance programs (EAPs), and community organizations.
  • Serves as the liaison between referral sources and Verve’s clinical team to ensure a smooth, professional referral and admission experience.
  • Represents Verve at presentations, in‑services, trade shows, and community and marketing events.
  • Plans and participates in marketing events to build brand awareness and referral relationships.
  • Meets weekly key performance indicators (e.g., outbound outreach and new contacts).
  • Records all contacts, visits, and follow‑ups accurately and promptly in Verve’s CRM.
  • Owns referral and admission targets and consistently works to meet or exceed them.
  • Builds executive‑level partnerships across Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), health systems, and referral networks.
  • Develops and refines territory and outreach strategy to grow referrals and admissions.
  • Supports the build‑out and ongoing development of Verve’s alumni program.
  • Serves as a senior representative of Verve in strategic referral relationships and community partnerships.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to state and federal confidentiality regulations.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
  • Representative level: approximately one (1) year of experience in sales, business development, or a healthcare setting. Director level: five (5) or more years of experience in sales, business development, or healthcare, with a demonstrated track record of hitting growth targets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust quickly and follow through.
  • Sharp communication, strong organization, and comfort managing independent work in the field.
  • A genuine commitment to helping people in recovery, such that promoting Verve’s services feels natural and authentic.
  • Experience with EAPs, addiction treatment, or other healthcare settings (desirable)
  • Lived experience with recovery; a minimum of one (1) year of sobriety if identifying as being in recovery (a plus, never a requirement)
  • Prior experience with a CRM such as Dazos, Salesforce, or similar (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Expected Salary Band

$70,000–$100,000 base salary, plus performance‑based bonuses.

Final title and compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

Specific Requirements
  • FBI Background Check
  • Narcan emergency overdose response capability (training and certification provided)
Employee Accountability
  • As an employee of Verve Behavioral Health, the candidate must adhere to expectations of the organization, and applicable external agencies and organizations.
  • Maintains familiarity with and adheres to the Verve Policy & Procedures Manual and Employee Handbook, DC licensing regulations, and The Joint Commission standards
  • Follows Verve and professional discipline Codes of Ethics
  • Adheres to organization policies, and Federal and State regulations regarding client confidentiality and privacy (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, etc.
  • Completes required ongoing staff training and other specific training activities identified in their professional development plan; provides Verve with documentation as requested
