Job summary

Flory Line Construction in Michigan seeks a proactive business development professional to assist with growth, contact clients, and create proposals. You will coordinate meetings, research markets, and support cross-functional teams to win new projects.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, 3-5 years in utility construction, strong communication, and a valid CDL with travel as needed; you will represent the company at industry events and help craft marketing materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience with utility construction industry – preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – required
  • Valid commercial driver's license and ability to travel as needed - required.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and research prospective clients, including utility companies, cooperatives, and municipalities.
  • Support the preparation of bids, proposals, and presentations for potential clients.
  • Coordinate meetings, follow-ups, and communications with current and potential customers.
  • Conduct industry and market research to support business development strategies.
  • Represent the company professionally at networking events and trade shows (as assigned).
  • Collaborate with internal teams including estimating, safety, and operations to support project proposals.
  • Assist with drafting client communication and marketing materials as needed.
  • Provide support for the business development team.
  • Work with other departments in organization to define needs and improve business processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Overview: Under departmental direction, assists with business growth, contacting clients, creating proposals, maintaining client records and assisting in client outreach efforts; related work as required.

Essential Duties

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of utility construction industry, practices, methods, terminology.
  • Knowledge and practice of effective business development practices and strategies.
  • Knowledge of organizations that support the electrical industry and how those organizations work together.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and related software programs – MS Office suit.

Additional Requirements

Instructions: Instructions are somewhat general; many aspects of the work are covered specifically but must use own judgment in many cases.

Physical Requirements of the Job: Work is typically performed indoors and will involve sitting at a desk or table; work requires intermittent standing, walking, stooping; bending, climbing; reaching, gripping, grasping; must lift objects up to 25 pounds; may be exposed to machines and their moving parts as well as environmental elements on occasion.

Tools, Equipment and Vehicles Used: Normal office equipment, (computer, iPad, printer, telephone, camera, scanner, copy machine, etc.). Must operate vehicle as a requirement of the position as necessary.

Contacts: Frequent internal and external contacts requiring tact and diplomacy.

Availability: My be required to respond to calls in emergency situations at all hours.

Overtime Provision: Exempt.
