North Star Reserves in Rigby, Idaho seeks a part-time Business Data Analyst to build, audit, and maintain reliable datasets during hybrid onboarding.

Qualifications

• Advanced Excel skills including nested formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data validation.
• Working knowledge of Word and Access.
• Experience with cloud-based file storage and project management tools.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to learn new software independently.
• Regular use of AI tools and ability to explain usage.

Job description

North Star Reserves offers a part-time Business Data Analyst opportunity with hybrid onboarding in Rigby, Idaho and then fully remote work within Idaho. You will spend the first 1–2 months in person for training, then transition to flexible hours while contributing to reserve studies by building, checking, and maintaining reliable datasets.

This role is designed for people who enjoy improving accuracy in spreadsheets and collaborating through shared project boards. If you are comfortable working independently, using AI tools in a practical way, and keeping datasets clean across multiple systems, you will have room to grow as your skills expand.

What you’ll do

• Build and audit spreadsheets for asset inventories, costs, and useful-life data
• Transfer and reconcile information between Excel, Access, and cloud-based tools
• Spot and correct errors in large datasets
• Use AI tools (with Claude preferred) to speed up data tasks while maintaining accuracy
• Track work and status in shared online project boards
• Complete other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• Advanced Excel, including nested formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data validation (please don’t apply unless you are very comfortable with Excel)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Access
• Experience using cloud-based file storage and project management tools
• Strong organization and close attention to detail
• Ability to learn new software independently
• Regular use of AI tools in work or school, plus the ability to explain how you use them

Schedule and location

• First 1–2 months: in-person training at the Rigby, Idaho office
• After training: fully remote within Idaho with flexible hours
• Part-time role, with college students and experienced professionals welcome

Tech stack

Compensation

$15–$18 per hour, depending on experience. Pay and responsibilities increase as skills develop.
