Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or related field; preferred specialized financial analysis training.
  • Minimum of two years related experience as a Business Solutions Credit Analyst or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial lending and loan review regulations and banking regulations.
  • Advanced ability to analyze financial statement data and distill conclusions.
  • Strong communication skills across all bank platforms including peers, management and outside customers.
  • Ability to use accounting/financial analysis techniques and financial modeling including DCF.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and banking software.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks for the credit analysis process.
  • Conducts credit investigations and analyzes credit information pertaining to loans.
  • Breaks down the balance sheet and income statement accounts; analyzes results and compares current results to prior periods.
  • Prepares reports summarizing analysis of borrowers’ financial condition and capacity to repay debt; prepares new loan requests and reviews credit from $500,000 to $3,000,000.
  • Prepares projections on income, sales, expenses and net worth of the client with the credit report or for a lender/management.
  • Demonstrates ability to decision new loan requests and renewal up to $1,000,000 in aggregation.
  • Assists in Portfolio Management duties and New Money Requests.
  • Assesses collateral values, reviews appraisals and collateral coverage.
  • Assigns Risk Ratings.
  • Maintains updated financial statements and relevant borrower information to assess credit quality.

Job description

Promotes First Commonwealth’s asset quality through unbiased, accurate, thorough and timely risk assessment which is accomplished by analyzing financial statements and related credit data. Prepares organized and comprehensive reports which assess the credit-worthiness of a loan request and provide the appropriate authority with the necessary information to make an informed lending decision. Demonstrate the ability to decision a new request or renewal by exercising $1,000,000 of Lending Authority. Prepares organized and comprehensive reports for existing loan relationships which assess the continued credit-worthiness of the client. Assist in the development of FCB’s credit culture through projects and reporting related to credit quality, portfolio quality and policy and procedures.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Performs tasks for the credit analysis process.
  • Conducts credit investigations and analyzes credit information pertaining to loans.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work of New Money Requests as well as perform Portfolio Management duties.
  • Assess the values collateral when necessary, reviews appraisals and assesses collateral coverage.
  • Assigns Risk Ratings.
  • Follows assigned portfolio or accounts for updated financial statements or other relevant information to assess borrower credit quality.
  • Recommends to the loan officer additional information required to providing a quality Credit Memo.
  • Actively participate in Criticized Asset Committee.
  • Participates or assists in projects or tasks necessary for the Credit Administration function.
  • Ensures that all credit analysis activities are conducted in accordance with prescribed lending policy.
  • Participates in addressing efficiency improvement to processes within the team.
  • Achieves goals assigned to the Credit Analyst as part of the department’s annual operating plan.
  • Adheres to the Business Credit Department’s Service Level Agreement with the Commercial Business line.
Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or a related field of study or equivalent experience; preferred specialized financial analysis training. A minimum of two (2) years related experience as a Business Solutions Credit Analyst or equivalent experience with another financial institution.
  • A thorough knowledge of commercial lending and loan review regulations and banking regulations, procedures, and operations.
  • Advanced ability to analyze financial statement data and distill conclusions
  • Strong communication skills across all bank platforms including peers, management and outside customers.
  • A strong knowledge of accounting and financial analysis techniques and ability to use these skills to perform financial modeling including but not limited to discounted cash flow techniques and projected forecasted cash flow.
  • Proficient ability to use Microsoft Office programs and banking software.
  • Strong reading, writing, and grammar skills; superior analytical and mathematical skills; proficient communicative and interpersonal relations skills.
  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines, strong time management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of bank policy and procedures, as well as bank regulations.
