Job summary

First Horizon Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst to provide analytical support in underwriting commercial credit facilities and assist Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers in managing client relationships.

Key tasks include financial statement analysis, supporting covenant monitoring, and preparing credit approval documentation within the bank's systems. You will collaborate with PMs and RMs to monitor portfolios and ensure accuracy and policy compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret financial statements and provide analysis for underwriting complex C&I and CRE loans.
  • Financial statement spreading; prepare analysis docs; update loan system requests, modifications, renewals and annual reviews; track covenant monitoring and industry research.
  • Participate in relationship team meetings to explain analysis to management and credit partners.
  • Analyze and prepare credit approval documentation reflecting loan terms, collateral, covenants, and input loan grade in the loan system.
  • Monitor assigned commercial loan portfolios with Portfolio Managers; track covenants and company performance against expectations.
  • Identify material changes in borrowers' financial statements for credit approval presentations.
  • Participate in internal credit conversations and external meetings with clients and prospects.
  • Contribute to portfolio management projects and uphold portfolio management metrics and deadlines.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Interpret financial statements and provide financial analysis support utilized in underwriting complex C&I and commercial real estate loans.
  • Work proactively to ensure production is prioritized appropriately and completed in a timely manner. Specific tasks include financial statement spreading; completing financial analysis documents; updating and creating new requests, modifications, renewals and annual reviews in the Bank’s commercial loan system; tracking and completing covenant monitoring, completing industry research and developing a strong understanding of the Bank’s commercial loan policy.
  • Participate in relationship team meetings with management and credit partners to explain information in the analysis when warranted.
  • Analyze and prepare credit approval documentation in FHB’s commercial loan system. The Credit Analyst is responsible for accurately reflecting all loan terms, collateral, covenants, loan grade inputs, policy exceptions, and calculating credit exposure for a given relationship in the commercial loan system.
  • Partner with Portfolio Managers to monitor and manage assigned commercial loan portfolios. This responsibility includes tracking covenants, recording financial statements, and monitoring company performance against expectations. Credit Analyst is responsible not only for accurate calculations and inputs but also for thoughtful implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Identify and report material changes or trends in the financial statements of borrowers or guarantors observed in the preparation of credit approval presentations
  • Participate in internal credit conversations with PM’s, RM’s Credit Officers and senior management and in external meetings with clients and prospects.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate consistently high level of ownership of portfolio management metrics and team initiatives, flexibility in responding to RM/PM/senior management and client deadlines, high level of detail and follow-through, and independence within the framework of the role in assisting in achieving business goals.
