Job summary

Insight Recruitment in Denver seeks a senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central developer to own and evolve our BC environment. You will design, code, and maintain BC solutions using AL and extensions, and partner with operations to map end-to-end processes.

This internal role emphasizes hands-on coding and ERP design decisions, with onboarding onsite in Knoxville and potential long-term remote flexibility; occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on development experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or NAV.
• Proficiency in AL and extension-based development.
• Ability to understand and work through complex business processes in an ERP environment.
• Experience supporting or integrating Business Central with third-party systems such as shipping, payment, EDI, document management, or treasury platforms.
• Comfortable serving as the internal owner of an ERP system rather than working in a consulting capacity.
• Ability to balance speed, stability, and long-term maintainability in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-directed, dependable, and committed to building durable internal solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day technical health, design, and ongoing evolution of our Business Central environment.
• Design, develop, and maintain Business Central solutions using AL and modern extension-based practices.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand end-to-end processes across operations, fulfillment, finance, and supply chain.
• Assess requirements and decide whether to use standard Business Central functionality, configuration, process changes, or custom development.
• Perform hands-on coding and serve as our internal authority on ERP design decisions.
• Support and improve integrations between Business Central and third-party platforms, including shipping, payment processing, EDI, document management, and treasury or cash management systems.
• Guide outsourced or partner-led development by reviewing code, designs, and deliverables.
• Build internal ERP expertise and reduce our long-term reliance on external partners.
• Troubleshoot complex ERP issues, prioritizing stability and scalability.
• Contribute to documentation, standards, and best practices across our ERP environment.
• Collaborate with our small internal IT team across systems, BI, project management, and development.

This newly created senior-level role joins our internal IT team and takes ownership of our Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central platform; it is an internal position, not a consulting or partner role. Were looking for someone who enjoys combining hands-on coding with close involvement in business processes, ownership, and long-term impact. This is not a formal people-management role or a narrowly focused development position with little business interaction. Onsite onboarding in Knoxville is required, with long-term remote flexibility afterward; occasional onsite travel may be needed based on project needs.
