Job description

Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together.

The Transformation Solutions team is a cross-functional organization that works with business and technology partners to drive large-scale change across Schwab. The team applies a range of tools and capabilities to protect the assets of the firm and our clients while improving scalability, operational efficiency, and the service experience.

As a Business Architect supporting the Smart Processing ecosystem, you will help translate enterprise strategy and complex business needs into actionable initiatives that can be prioritized and delivered by product and technology teams. You will partner with program managers, product managers, process experts, product owners, business analysts, and multiple scrum teams to define functional requirements, initiative-level acceptance criteria, system interaction diagrams, and user-system process flows. Your work will help teams create scalable solutions that increase automation, improve process transparency, and strengthen the data foundation for future artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities.

You will provide clarity across complex, interconnected initiatives by communicating product features and requirements in ways that business and technology partners can readily understand and act upon. You will support planning, backlog health, solution development, testing, release preparation, and issue resolution while building alignment across digital, customer relationship management, business process management, middleware, and mainframe platforms. Through thoughtful analysis, strong partnership, and a practical bias toward action, you will help turn strategic vision into solutions that deliver meaningful value for Schwab and its clients.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis without employer sponsorship.

What you have

This role requires a highly motivated, organized, and experienced business-focused technology individual with a proven record of software delivery in a rapidly changing agile environment.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical field
  • 5+ years of technical analysis or operations experience with an asset or investment management firm, with a focus on data-related functions
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a Business Architect and developing strategic business-process requirements for large-scale software solutions
  • Experience gathering, documenting, and validating requirements for complex, end-to-end initiatives involving multiple enterprise technology teams
  • Ability to translate business and functional needs into initiatives, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, supplementary requirements, and business rules
  • Experience creating functional system interaction diagrams, user-system process flows, use cases, and other requirements artifacts that enable effective technical design and delivery
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery practices and experience collaborating with product owners, product managers, business analysts, and scrum teams
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, identify scalable solutions, and exercise sound technical judgment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor concise, actionable information for business, technical, and executive audiences
  • Ability to build productive relationships, align diverse stakeholders, and drive decisions and issue resolution across multiple teams

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise transformation, consulting, or product management initiatives
  • Experience working in the financial services industry
  • Experience coordinating development, testing, implementation, and release-planning activities across internal teams and external vendors
  • Experience working across digital, customer relationship management, business process management, middleware, and mainframe platforms
  • Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, GitHub Copilot, and process-mapping tools
  • Ability to maintain visibility into backlog health, delivery progress, dependencies, risks, and impediments across several scrum teams
  • Demonstrated ability to connect near-term delivery priorities with product roadmaps and a broader future-state vision
  • A collaborative and pragmatic approach to navigating ambiguity, changing priorities, and complex enterprise environments

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
