Job summary

We are seeking a Manager, Business Applications to lead a team responsible for supporting, optimizing, and enhancing the business-critical applications that power our organization.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted partner to business leaders, IT teams, and external vendors while overseeing the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications across our operations. You will lead a team of application professionals, help shape application strategy, and drive initiatives that improve business processes, operational performance, and the overall user experience.

What You'll Do

Lead Business-Critical Applications

• Oversee the day-to-day support and performance of assigned business and operational technology applications.
• Serve as the primary point of leadership for application support activities, ensuring timely issue resolution and system reliability.
• Partner with end users, Help Desk, Infrastructure, Application Development, Data Services, and third-party vendors to maintain application performance.
• Provide end-to-end ownership of assigned applications, including support, enhancements, upgrades, integrations, and ongoing optimization.
• Ensure technical documentation, knowledge articles, support tickets, and change requests are maintained accurately and consistently.

Drive Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve business processes, user experiences, and application performance.
• Analyze recurring issues and implement sustainable solutions that reduce disruption and improve operational efficiency.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational needs and align technology solutions with business priorities.
• Contribute to the development and execution of application roadmaps that support organizational goals and future growth.
• Stay informed of evolving technologies, industry best practices, and emerging application support trends.

Lead Projects & Technology Changes

• Participate in and lead projects involving application enhancements, implementations, upgrades, and system changes.
• Collaborate with project managers, business partners, and technical teams to define project scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Support change management efforts by coordinating communications, documentation, training, and user adoption activities.
• Ensure governance standards, documentation requirements, and change management processes are followed consistently.

Develop and Lead a High-Performing Team

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of application support professionals.
• Prioritize workload and resources to balance operational support with strategic initiatives.
• Provide mentoring, performance feedback, career development, and training opportunities.
• Monitor ticket queues, service levels, and support metrics to ensure responsive and effective customer support.
• Serve as an escalation point for critical application issues, including participation in a shared after-hours support rotation.

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

• Experience leading, managing, or overseeing business application and operational technology support environments.
• Experience supporting business-critical applications such as ERP, manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, inventory, production, or related systems.
• Experience partnering with business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, and end users to resolve issues and improve operational performance.
• Experience leading or supporting application enhancements, upgrades, implementations, integrations, or technology-related projects.
• Experience managing vendors and third-party support providers.
• Experience with incident management, problem management, change management, and application lifecycle practices.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting manufacturing, poultry/protein, food and beverage, distribution, supply chain, or similar operational environments.
• Experience supporting multi-site business operations.
• Experience working with operational technology and manufacturing systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong understanding of business application support, operational technology, troubleshooting, and application lifecycle management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
• Ability to utilize SQL queries, reporting tools, and available technology resources to investigate and resolve issues.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical groups.
• Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality support and service.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Leadership Responsibilities

This is a people leadership role responsible for managing and developing a team of two or more full-time employees.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution required.

Work Environment

• Primarily office-based environment with regular computer and technology use.
• May require occasional travel to operational locations and facilities.
• Participation in a rotating leadership on-call schedule to support critical business applications as needed.
